What the TV special does not say is that the Gospel of Judas was promoted by the "Cainites," an ancient Christian sect that defended the role of Cain in the design of salvation.

Cain, in the first book of the Old Testament, Genesis, was the first son of Adam and Eve after their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. In a fit of sibling jealousy, Cain slew his younger brother, Abel, in what the Bible says was the first murder committed by mankind.

Judas Iscariot was considered a saint by the Cainites

The Gospel of Judas and the sect of Cain, therefore, were guilty of "determinism," for showing that Judas's betrayal and Cain's murder had been predestined as part of the design of salvation.
u are ryt. it is not compatible with christianity but it is not "anti" per se. if they're anti they would have preach something that will directly attack/antagonize the christian belief... they have an entirely different view.

it's juz like comparing traditional christians and other non mainstream (born again etc.) christians. they are not compatible with each other but one is not "anti" other

they're an offshoot of one religion not neccesarily christianity.

there's a lot of gnostic sects... some are offshoot of the judaism, zoroastranism, islam. are they all anti-christian? maybe satanism is anti-christian but gnosticism in general? i dont think so.

Well the Gnostic gospels are proof that they are not Christians. In fact their teaching is diametrically opposed to Christianity.

Gnostics are Satanic? Why not? Satan could assume in any form and one of them is to use Christianity itself. Talking of wolves dressed like sheeps.

I don't have a deep understanding of gnosticism myself, care if you guys enlighten my ignorance? coz you sound like scholars.

But anyway, just a few questions. If indeed these gospels are the "lost" gospels, which of the gospels are true? The Biblical Gospels? Or the Gnostic Gospels? Gnostics don't have a God, right? /scratches head. Forgive my ignorance.

Mura man ni silang ga kompetensya. When did gnostics first existed? If Jesus was a gnostic himself, what about the Old Testament? The prophecy of the coming of Christ? So wala gyud diay saviour? It completely eradicates Christian core belief. Sa tinuod galibug ko, kamo nalay elaborate be pwede? Then we'll take it from there.

I'm a Christian, but not a devout Catholic. But I believe in Christ and his message of the Holy Spirit.

all these reports/novels regarding the misleading papyrus toiletries only sprang up just to piggy-back on the success of daVinci code..how can you say that it's really Judas gospel when it was written ages after he hung himself to death?..were past-time novels could have been popular on those days?

national geographics recently published 2 books regarding these nonsense stories, and i guess it wont take time for it to be another best-sellers..grab a copy now and feed your ever craving minds with a delectable mis-infos
