akoang ginahimo kay hikap ra sa chassis or back shell sa PSU para ma discharge ang nag accumulate na static electricity sa atoang lawas... so far, very effective... since, we are handling the components on PCB boards (specially in humid countries like the Philippines), ESD is not a big deal compared if we will handle the ICs in units form (kaning in units form, must gyud ang naka ground ta kun atoang hikapon)... kanang mo hikap ta'g metal surface (to dissipate Static electricity or ground ourselves) prior sa atoang pag handle ug component on any PCB board, that is enough to dissipate the build up static electricity sa atoang lawas... this action is effective and safe enough...
therefore, whenever doing the thing that I had just said above, using a wrist strap "Is Not" a must but just only a "Nice to have"...
Disclosure:
Currently, I worked in a Fabless Semiconductor Company... previously, worked in a Semiconductor Manufacturing Company... got > 16 yrs of experience in this industry (all in Quality, Failure Analysis and Reliability)... I know what I'm doing... charing... bwehehehe...
^ ang ingon sa amo titser sa una mas makampante/secured ka kung atleast naa kay strap while Holding some components.
pero siyempre dipindi gihapon na nimo![]()
^ that's in theory bro... kun naa ka'y extra na GPU dha... try ug manhandle ug months... then test... check if mamatay ba...
i made a rough evaluation on the ICs in units form... in 1 yr, akoang gi manhandle ug maayo even during winter. grabeh kaayo ang static nko unya, hikap dayon sa leads... you know what, wala gyud ko mamatyi akoang specimen... hehehe...
pero, tanan products namo, gi test ni sila'g ESD (HBM, MM and CDM) in units form before releasing to production... and naa'y mahagbong gyud...
ug sa akoang experience aning passion nato, taod2x naman gyud ni... 21 yrs naman... wla man gyud ko mag care anang ESD grounding straps... but, as i've said, before i'll handle any PC components, mo hikap gyud ko'g metal surface... and in those 21 yrs and counting, wla ko namatyan ug component due to ESD... or poor ESD handling controls...

on topic, diba, maka relate man ka sa mga mahagbong sa QA nga ICs so para in ana siguro, dont have proof though. hehehe

tambay ra ko ron bay. test product engineer ako last.
