The specifications of the Pentium G3258 have been revealed by VR-Zone and are quite interesting. The Pentium G3258 is a dual core with two threads featuring a core clock of 3.2 GHz. It doesn’t come with Turbo Boost tech but will be supported on both 8-Series and 9-Series platforms unlike Devil’s Canyon which will feature support on just the 9-Series chipset based Z97 motherboards. Featuring the 22nm Haswell architecture, the chip comes with 3 MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 53W. The instruction set includes SSE4.1, SSE 4.2, EM64T and VT-X. The box prices suggest a retail cost of around $69.99 US – $79.99 US.

wow. thanks. I was thinking nga naa "K" ang iyang name. mahal at 80$, 3500pesos more or less and di na cguro ni mu ubos ang price ani since broadwell is fast approaching na. hmmmmm. lets wait for the reviews... so again, Z87/Z97 ra gihapon ang maka OC ani niya right? mis-match man gud if mupalit tag Z97+PentiumK kay at that price price pwede na ta maka palit ug i5(non-K) bundled with H-series board, and that would make more sense dba? ------------- ug by the way, ngano dili man Haswell Refresh ang Pentium-K?? fakker .. so same TIM ni sa old haswells.

$80 is cheap IMO considering the next haswell you can overclock is around $200. You can buy three of this put it in a cooking bin see which can go past 6ghz . And don't really care if it's not a haswell refresh. Delid ra katapat ana hehe. And why compare it sa locked i5? The i5 is multiplier locked, this has unlimited multi. That's the difference If you think you're better off with the locked i5 this procie is not for you.

what im referring to is the Price-to-Performance Ratio. A Locked i5 + H-series board is equivalent sa price sa PentiumK + Z97. bisag ma overclock pa nang pentiumK, layu ra gihapon sya sa performance sa i5. So in the end, mas sulit gihapon if mag i5 non-K ta becos we'll get more performance with it compare to the pentiumK+Z97 At the same price. kay we must always remember that this Pentium K wont be overclocked if we don't match it with Z87 or Z97 boards. I really have nothing against this processor since I even made this thread, but it is just a disappointment jud. All new processors are released Refresh, kani ra ang dili. And yes, being a Non-Refresh matters a lot, since this is an Unlocked processor, then it is targeted for overclockers, and as we all know the Refresh batch has a better Thermal Materials, fixing the high temperatures of the first batch haswells. So I guess it will be better if gi apil nalang ni nila sa ilang refresh batch. ---- ,,Anyway, these, considering ni nga wala pay board ha. But if naa na tay existing Z87, then this processor is really worth a buy. But if you start from scratch, say from sandybridge to haswell refesh, I think mas sulit ang Refreshed Locked i5+cheap H-series kaysa Unlocked Pentium + expensive Z97.

but this was not meant to allure price/performance seekers in the first place. It's still a dual core procie, and 2 cores is definitely out of the question these days if you're only looking for pure performance. Even ako if price/performance ako pangita I'd go with an i3 cause of it's 4 threads. This is more like an e-peen chip. For the lols if you may. If this can do above 5ghz on air and 6ghz on water I wouldn't mine getting two to play around. As ingon pa ni sir lloyd this more of a "nice-to-have" chip than a "need-to-have" chip.
