you dont have to base everything on the bible the world is not divided into what the bible says and what the bible doesnt say... its divided into what is right and what is wrong regardless of whatever the scripture says... we were given brains to think, and freewill to decide...

4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Daniel 12:4.

So kung dili literal, unsa man diay ang rod nga imo pasabot nga dili angay iliteral?
Kay it follows the bible mentioned it as rod then if its symbolical then it must be explained by the bible not by our own uncertain wild guess about rod or anything about the bible.
I bet you when the bible says a symbolical then the bible has its explanation not the readers.

    that's too broad.

Anything is worth to discuss or to debate because it involves our soul.

for me rod means discipline. there are many ways to discipline a child and for me spanking should be the last resort.

    personally...

I dont know what im talking about coz I DONT HAVE A CHILD... and it may be wise to adpot such idea....

    but heres my idea though:

It really needs and takes a lot to grow a pyschologically fit child... A psychologically fit child is way more better in the real world than a physically fit one... although lets aim for both...

my idea is... grab all the help from professionals in concerning how to nurture a child pyschologically, this includes how to discipline them properly...

    sa ako pang teacher

"Di na pwede wedo-wedo hun ang patubo ug bata tawn... busa... read a gud book on it"

mo tuo gyud ko anang gisulti na "spare the rod, spoil the child."

kanang disciplina lang gyud na inamahan ba, dili kastigo, kana lang gyud ipakita sa bata na sayop na gyud iyang gbuhat.

dili sad sa tanan higayon bisan unsa ka gamay na sala, bunal dayon.

sa US ang mga bata kung makasala, magpabadlong ug mag ginahi sa ulo di na sila bunalan. igo ra grounded, like no TV, celfon or no allowance for a period of time. pero mura di man na effective uy.

ako kung naa ko anak, ako jud bunalan kung dili gihapon mopatuo after nga ako tambagan or istoryahan. pero dili nuon naku kulatahon, usa ka litik lang or hapak sa bakos lang gud. kay ug sigehan sad mokubol naman di na madutlan.
