Default Re: Rightist and leftist group, whats the difference?

    @ The_Child:

macro-level public works which generated employment and spurred growth; the "multiplier effect". the monetary policy that the classical liberals favored was deemed effective because there was simply not enough money moving inside the economy.

the debate on the cause of the 1930's Depression still rages on. one can blame "government intervention" for supposed market distortions, but the market can also be blamed for allowing the huge speculative bubble to expand way outside the limits of what the economies can take.

of course, the Austrian school was not exactly popular during this time, with its leanings toward the Far-Right, so it can be expected that it had minor influence with the prevailing mainstream theoretical atmosphere at that time. nevertheless, i still cannot find myself to trust it somehow.

if we place the labeling of either "Left" or "Right" on the shoulders of 'subjectivity' we might find ourselves trapped in a quagmire of cacophonous arbitrariness. i believe it is best that standards should be set by using both "economic" and "social" axes.

wala ba'y "frontist"? kanang sector nga mo usbong atong nasud. ang nga negosyante ug OFW ra gyud siguro intawn. kung wa pa ang mga negosyante ug OFW hagbay ra ning na tuwang atong nasud.

ga-samok samok ra ng mga leftist ug rightist. wa man sad na sila'y na contribute nga significant for social reforms diri sa pilipinas ha. utro sad nga mga confused, whining sissies! they always fight for rights and justice etc. kuno but what pro-active measures did they do to elevate their plight and the plight of their cause?

you cant blame the market because its neutral. its like blaming a knife for stabbing someone.
its subjective, because if you go to the USA Socialists are considered liberals,
if you go the Western Europe, neoliberals are sometimes considered as neoconservatives
    and among other things.

here in the philippines who are the socialists and who are the liberals? then who are the rightist and who are the leftist?

one thing can be definite though about the political spectrum. the center is by default moderate, the left for change, the right for n0-change. the more right the more change, the more right the more conservative.

the market, in itself, is never 'neutral' since it advances the interests of the individual entrepreneurs and capitalists that participate in it. left on its own, it even turns to itself and commits an act of suicide since it aims to destroy competition for higher profit margins. oligopoly/monopoly capitalism results after competition eliminates the 'weaker' competitors from the arena; something that a number of neoliberals such as Friedrich August von Hayek even favor.

i believe that if we use 'subjectivism' as you describe it, as the basis for the "Left-Right" label, we would essentially be doing it based not on comparative analysis on these ideologies, but on impressions that we have of them.

German, French as well as English "Socialists" are actually 'social democrats' who espouse a mixed economy leaning towards a welfare state (economic axis) and libertarian rights (social axis) they are at the Left of the "Nationalists" who espouse a neo-mercantilist economy (economic axis) and limited individual rights (social axis). European Nationalists are on the Right of the political spectrum because they want to preserve the socio-cultural order (conservativism)

in the United States, we have the "New Liberals" (not to be confused with the 'neoliberals') who advocate a mixed economy with social welfare as its centerpiece (economic axis) and a considerable amount of civil and individual rights (social axis). "Neoliberals", on the other hand, are on the Right of the political spectrum because they advance 'laissez-faire' capitalism(economic axis) and extensive individual rights (social axis) incidentally, they are also called "Neoconservatives" precisely because laissez-faire capitalism preserves the socio-economic order.

in the Philippines, we have the Right, initially led by the military or its members and supported by not a few businessmen. their economic ideology, not surprisingly, is capitalist in any of its variations (economic axis) and either libertarian or restrictive individual freedoms (social axis) depending on which side of the Rightist alliance you'd ask.

the Center, is a fragmented and highly disorganized group whose most vocal members, the "Liberals" favor a mixed economy leaning towards laissez-faire (economic axis) and a considerable amount of individual rights (social axis). as you can see, it's not exactly 'neutral' either.

the Leftist movement in the Philippines is split into two major factions, the "Social Democrats" who favor a mixed economy which leans towards being a welfare state (economic axis) and a sizable number of individual rights, mixed with certain variants of collectivism (social axis), and the "National Democrats" who favor a purely socialist economy (economic axis) and a collectivist culture that promotes individual rights (social axis).

    @ LytSlpr

it's quite obvious that you have confused your terms. the words "liberal" and "capitalists" can also apply to the Left, same as the words "reform" and "rights" can apply to the Right.

please be guided accordingly and avoid stating your impressions as fact. thank you.

all right sir, i won't even pretend i know a lot about this issue in depth but all i can say, from what i know the so called rightists and leftists has not contributed to change in this country aside from always airing out their sentiments and arguing, you may correct me if i am wrong. the most despised capitalists are still the backbone of this country.

it does not so. Capital flows freely to the maximum rate of return. So if a capitalist doesnt know how to handle capital, he loses.

Monopolies couldnt exist in the long run unless of course there is Government intervention that would favor or give leverage to company X. And that happens only in Mixed-Economies where pressure warfare is present.

    you are absolutely right.

and this reinforces statement that the "Leftists" and "Rightists"(though Rightists are mainly capitalists by default) have "not contributed to change in this country", precisely because the country is run by capitalists.

yes, run by capitalists... and just care to look at the miserable state of the country now.

ohh..shame on me as i consider myself as one of the brightest,
the reason why we have plenty of lawyers and many more comings to be is that everyone is fascinated by making easy money by brains,
how about using our two hands, the left and the right, and let's start feeding the hungry,
as there is a need to balance political power, there will also be a need to balance the ways of everything,
