Jerx it's not that! can't you see that New Oreleans was totally wiped out and was totally devastated. They are asking for help co'z they have insufficient supplies of food and water. America has been a great help to other countries as well as the philippines and for that theres nothing wrong in asking for a help it is a matter of helping each other in times of calamities did'nt you ever think of that!...aren't you feel any sympathy to those victims of katrina? it wud be better if you wud just pray for them..

^ & the majority of the stranded only have an income of $13,000.00 annual; And they dont have any budget to buy a vehicle. These are the less fortunate folks @ the Big Easy were they rank No.1 in Crime on all 50 States.

somebody from kentucky told me that there was a certain part of new orleans, i mean there's a certain park there that has the statue of christ that didnt have a single scratch at all, behind it, a chuch, not a single damage except for the clock inside that stopped due to the power outage... miracle? i believed so.

$13,000 is so big? If you spend it there in the Philippines. $13,000 annual income is like $1083/month income. Kahibaw ba ka pila mag apartment diri? $1,000-1,500/month. Daghan pobre diri, that's what we don't know there. Besides that, daghan pa illegal.

Ang nahitabo gyud, sige na warning about a Category 5 storm that will hit New Orleans, gipa-evacuate na ang mga taw 3 days before the storm. Of course ang mga walay sakyanan, lisud ug bakwit, and... hadlok mobiya sa ilang mga balay tungod sa ilang mga kabtangan, besides that, wala sila nagtuo nga tinuod diay ang forecasted predictions that the city will be flooded because of the fact that it's below sea level, and naa pa gyud dagku nga rivers. Kasagaran nga nangahabilin kay mga pobre man, and those so paranoid of their belongings or houses or businesses. Dugay kaayo motuo ba. Mas racist man gani ning mga itom against asians or latinos, mga maldito murang kinsa man na sila.

Unprepared sila even the governors office... mao wala na andaman ang gubot and unlawfulness.

Besides that, there was also a problem of communication. Walay cell signal, walay telephone, walay koryente. I don't personally know why it took 4 days before food or water made it to the astrodome. Considering the vast land area transportation has to travel to get to Louisiana, daku baya ning America mga manoy. It took us 3 days drive from Maryland (North East gamay) to North Louisiana last xmas. Stay me hotel for the night. However kung straight lang ang biyahe (pait kaayo na uy kapoy) they have to stop for food and gas. Plus, daku pa gasto ang government sa Iraq, most soldiers are there, gamay ra gyud ang law enforcers nga naa sa New Orleans.

Â* Â* Â* Â*The only thing the govt can do is get there and help them but they have hard time getting them out of the area . $ 13,000 dollars bai is below avegrage income in the US . Dako siya ug ilis sa pesos but you are not spending pesos in the US but you are spending dollars also so mo even out ang value niya . Mao gyud na one thing a typical Pinoy thinksÂ* on us fellow FIlipinos living in the US na datu and kwartahan mi because we are earning dollars .

Â* Â* Â* We are united when we have our own share of CALAMITIES but w/ the absence of the SUPER POWERFUL countries ? They are always there bai . From Ormoc flood , Pinatubo , Quezon landslide etc .

Common sense is called for here.

A New Orleans folk may be earning 13,000 bucks a year, but so what? You got a hurricane that bills you probably a hundred times your annual income; how the heck are you supposed to pay that? Not only does it cost you far more than your income, what little income you got left with you, pal, has just been washed away by the same hurricane. Praytell, what exactly do you have left to help others, much more help yourself?

The U.S. may be a superpower country, but what if more than half the number of its states sink below the ocean? How can it possibly recover that greater part without a little help from its neighbors, even from its enemies? That analogy is exactly what happen to Louisiana, Mississipi and the other places devastated by Katrina.

If Katrina costs x, and New Orleans earns y where x>y, how can New Orleans pay up unless an x-y amount is added to make x=y?

    Shalom.

dili man mamili ang calamity ug superpower county or 3rd world country. when it hits, there will always be victims. i guess this is a reminder for all of us --- nobody is invincible.
