Philippine Idol or Pinoy Dream Academy?

but allow me to share something about Philippine Idol. a close friend
of mine recently auditioned for this show. hes currently studying
medicine in one of the med schools here in cebu.

he narrated that prior to getting a chance to be interviewed
by the 3 celebrity judges, you have to pass 3 levels of auditions/interviews
by its staff. he passed the 1st & 2nd level but was turned down in the 3rd level.
(my friend really sings well and has won several singing contest(interschool lang),
he's also good looking)

so when the PI aired and showed the auditions(auditions done with the 3 celebs),
he was surprised with what csme out. some of them were really really out of tune and
you would really question why they passed the 3rd round. if you have seen it
you would really laugh at them=)

my question is, is this really a singing contest ? or is this just entertainment show like WWE,
masked behind a singing contest?

Dili siguro oist. To be an idol, you have to have the total package. Dapat maganda boses mo and the right attitude kahit hindi ka masyadong good looking. Right attitude plus boses. A talent who will touch Filipino hearts.

i disagree, a lot i mean a lot of professional singers have joined PI but did not even pass 2nd round because they just dont have what it takes to be a PI idol, they just dont impress the 3 judges, even if you think that your bet/friend has a to die for na boses. This girl marinelle santos (the one who sang SCQ theme and 3rd place winner for star in a million) auditioned but did not even pass 2nd round. Divo Bayer who has a good voice, an up and comming singer with super pang idol looks did not even pass 3rd round.


I believe that P idol does not only concentrate on voice quality but also the personality of a person and how she can be developed to a total performer.

PI's main problem so far is the editing. It's bland and uninteresting. Its American counterpart had shown standouts (good or bad) already even during the audition phase. PI chose to showcase more on the freaky/bad contestants which is okay if they have also shown some good standouts. With a few exceptions like Yova (who didn't make it to the top 24) and that silly Jeffrey Santos plant, I could barely remember anyone from them. That's the disappointment so far that I had with this show. I seriously hope this show picks up. The males so far are forgettable but I think there are a few good ones from the girls.

a lot of people commented that the editing has to be improved and the visayas audition was edited badly, showing more the talents who were a bit 'jologs' than the ones that really did extraordiary.

Philippine Idol....appearance is not a big deal for the judges. they are after the talent of the contenders not like the pinoy dream academy.

talented but looks is important also, daghn maayo na singers na wala gyud ni sikat maski unsa ka nindt ang voice!

I like the voice of Jerome Sala, but wala lang gyud sad au sikat daug na unta gud. he is known koz nada na siya sa champions

look at marinel kato sa Star in million bfore ka batch ni erik, nyc siya ug voice bt wala siya aura like rachel ann or sarah! mao wala gyud cya


OT:another exmple: PBB SEason 1=== abs tried to change the imprrssion na looks sila tnaw prmi. look at now si sam ra gyud nag pabilin ug si jayson na naa gyud shows.
