depende gyud na kung unsay default capability sa RAW processor nimo, possible bati nga klase ang RAW processor nga imong nasulayan mao makaingon ka nga bati when you convert RAW straight to JPEG without any adjustments.

it's like having your film printed on paper using different machines with their default settings in place with no adjustments (example sa printer: noritsu or fuji). I always print my film on a fuji system, no adjustment (color/brightness/density) made after scan, print na derecho and the operator does not interfere kung unsay makuha sa scanner nila, they simply send the scan output for printing and I always get the expected results. Importante man gud ni when learning photography that the printer does not change how you want your photo kay nag bantay man pud ka sa imong exposure setting.

In other words, doing it the right way during exposure is what this is all about. But you still have to select which default setting (in camera or outside the camera) to apply on all your RAW files before saving them as jpeg. This RAW to jpeg conversion is partially like having the choice of film characteristic that you want (example: Reala, Velvia, Kodachrome, etc.). Digital cameras get the information in RAW, the jpeg is the result of the processed RAW file. Some built-in processing algorithm of a digital camera produce a not acceptable result for an experienced eye, that is where a professional RAW processor is for other than keeping a film equivalent copy of the photograph.

so for this thread, I recommend you shoot in jpeg only. that way at least your camera can add more "life" to your photo before you download it out of your camera/memory card. title says straight from camera right? so having the adjustments done inside camera is not cheating.
