at harvs correct bro... that's y i have mixed feeling about this, as i have mentioned on the first page this could lead into regulating photographers to the extent na we would need to secure a permit or show a competency certificate before we can shoot.. although this is nice coz we finally will be able to apply for accreditation for job application but i dont know about hobbyists.. those could pose a major threat as well... pero we'll have to wait for this to push through... just my 5million cents

this is total b*llsh*t. if they shall implement this, they better include all the equipments that can take photos including cellphones.

Mura'g kulbaan ko's setting minimum standards and certifying before pursuing the craft. Anyway, I'm just a hobbyist and will never consider myself a professional photographer because 1. I use a point-and-shoot and 2. I don't intend to pursue photography as an art. However, I feel for other photographers if they are ultimately regulated.

Sus, mura'g mangwarta ra man ang gobyerno para nako ani. But, on the other hand, TESDA can be a good stepping stone to a professional career for photographers so let's just hope for the best.

i dont think this will impact the hobbyists. i think this will have more of an impact on photographers who want to apply for jobs as photographers..either locally or abroad. although art and creativity can never be measured, but even photographers need to possess certain basic skills to take quality pictures...not just snapshots. at least, they are working with professional photographers to come up with the guidelines rather than polticians and admisitrators who know nothing of photography. lets not be too critical and prejudge this move right away. lets just wait for the outcome..then react.

    @ genesis04

if tesda is a government entity, waiting before reacting is not a good idea. everyone has the right to picture out for possible outcome/s to sort up with a fair output/s.

hobbyists and professionals use the same camera and related gadgets. it would be unfair to the the professionals if a certain rule implemented will only be addressed to them, and not with the hobbyists.

@genesis04: Point taken. But we do already have existing workshops that handout certificates. Why the need to "regulate" it? Again, we can give a fair assessment of a photographer's skills based on his/her portfolio without the need to undergo not 1; not 2; but 4 levels of TESDA certification.

    And check out this phrase:
This certification is voluntary but if all the ad agencies and photography related businesses adopt it, then everyone will eventually be forced to take it.
It would do us well to meditate on what that means - today (if implemented) or in the near future. Personally, the implications are devastating...

Again, this could be just me being me.
