on the other side, with all the kudos Google is receiving from developing their chrome OS...
Google gets this kind of rantings also.

    note:
i just copied the "p.s." from his article. visit to read the whole story...
    he deserves a credit.

Google is a new proprietary competitor to KDE | whilo’s blogsite

p.s.: I have waited for more than a day to post this, because I’ve thought the most dangerous new competitor to the FOSS desktop might get at least some attention on the planet, but it seems that google is somewhat masked out from critical consciousness. Instead far less important problems, like tomboy being in default debian install or not/is c# evil or not, get discussed everywhere… Instead of avoiding the Google problem in FOSS activism, it is really necessary to face its problems, if people still take the FOSS goals seriously. If FOSS people wouldn’t “bitch” around Google that much, they could actually help to raise the consciousness of the dangers associated to a giant centralized information pool. That is what I have experienced FOSS like when I have started to work with it in the past.
It was not to be mainstream, but to rather question the usage of software and assign certain ethical principles to it, especially in regard to your freedom. Is this all lost?
    enjoy!

Whatever it is, Google is making more money through ads by using a freeware OS.

basaha gud nnyu ang details sa ChromeOS oi..
mura ra ni cya ug WebOS, where everything is done on the web which means na dapat connected ka pirmi sa computer AND the OSes performance is based on your connection speed.
THis is refer to as Cloud computing.

    "Chrome OS

daghan lalis ani all over the net if na sulod ba jd ni sa "OS" na concept, almost tanang pagkaOS kay mawala man.. just imagine, after boot-up diretso lang cya open ug browser..
this is not a breakthrough news? daghan na kaayu WebOS all around the net..

Cmon people admit it, google is always overrated. Chrome Browser is not even near to being a mild cool browser, mas daghan pa ug cool features ang BETA version sa OPERA or FIrefox compare sa forever beta Chrome Browser,

    OS in a browser? Fail.

In that kind of OS, imagine how to play music with FLAC format, how to watch movie, how to detect new hardware in your USB.

I just want to share this little piece of info from wiki about HTML 5. And see the connection.

HTML 5 is the next major revision of the core markup language of the World Wide Web, HTML (hypertext markup language). Its first draft appeared on January 22, 2008.

HTML 5 specifies two variants of the same language, a "classic" HTML (text/html) variant known as HTML5 and an XHTML variant known as XHTML5. This is the first time that HTML and XHTML have been developed in parallel. HTML 5 was initially said to become a game-changer in Web application development, making obsolete such plug-in-based rich Internet application (RIA) technologies as Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, and Sun JavaFX.[1] Such applications would be made obsolete by specifying a standard video codec for all browsers to use. However, in July 2009, the editor of the burgeoning draft specification announced the dropping of Ogg Theora, the open standard, due to opposition from Apple, as well as the rival H.264 codec due to opposition from other browser vendors. This means HTML 5 does not currently specify a common video codec for Web development.[2]

The ideas behind HTML 5, originally referred to as Web Applications 1.0, were pioneered in 2004 by the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG); HTML 5 incorporates Web Forms 2.0, another WHATWG specification. The HTML 5 specification was adopted as the starting point of the work of the new HTML working group of the W3C in 2007. The working group published the First Public Working Draft of the specification on January 22, 2008.[3] The specification is an ongoing work, and is expected to remain so for many years, although parts of HTML 5 are going to be finished and implemented in browsers before the whole specification reaches final Recommendation status.[4] The editors are Ian Hickson of Google, Inc. and David Hyatt, Apple, Inc.[3]

Karon pa pud ko kita ani sa wiki. But i know HTML 5 is capable of playing Flash without a plugin.
What a coincidence, naay Google engineer apil.
Nagplano gani cla ug butang codec sa browser but naay ni oppose.
I believe everything will be ironed out in the future.

    yoshi!

I wonder how Apple will spin their new Mac ads, since they are
rumoured to announce a some kinda netbook/tablet this year which
might compete with this Google Chrome OS enabled netbooks.

The Ad will probably look something like this:

    Mac: "Hello I'm a Mac."

    PC: "Hello I'm a PC."

Netbook buyer (young attractive woman): "Hi! I'm an Anna."

Mac: "So PC, tell the folks why we are here."

PC: "Oh yes, we are here because this young woman is in the market for
a new netbook. I happened to have brought with me a Google Chrome OS
powered netbook PC and you Mac I believe..."

Mac: "I have with me an iTablet, powered by a Mac.

PC: "So Anna, tell us what features do you want on a Netbook."

Anna: "I want a netbook where it's operating system is not always in
BETA, and I hate to have the user interface cluttered with sponsored
    links and banner ads.

PC: (shakes head & slowly walks away) "She's all yours Mac."

Microsoft vs google is a no competition when it comes to OS.
Google cant even write their own OS, CHromeOS is based on LINUX.

and the idea of a webOS is not new.

Yes your wrong, you did not get the idea.. CHROME OS is not a REAL OS, its a web application that runs in a chrome browser.
After the Linux OS started, it will lunch the web browser and connect to specific URL.
BUT if you dont have internet connection THEN you cant use your OS.

IN FACT, we can access CHROME OS from our windows system using IE or firefox, nya unsa may naka Operating system ani?

ANd yes, Microsoft did not create their origininal OS, but that was DOS, and we are in WINDOWS era which is running in windows NT kernel. WIndows NT kernel was developed in microsoft.
Windows with DOS kernel era stopped during WIndows ME.

They stole the idea of the GUI SYSTEM but not the OS from apple, which is infact APPLE stole the idea from Xerox.
Microsoft bought the DOS from Seatle computer, and was the kernel for microsoft OSes until Windows ME.

Maybe you guys(who are actually amazed with CHROME OS) should start learning about OSes, start with the difference between DOS, Windows, MacOSX and WebOS.

While your at it, research on what Operating System really means and does.

PS. CHROMEOS is not a breakthrough technology.
daghan na na over the internet even before google announced it. It just get the attention of google because lets admit it

THEY ARE OVERRATED always, except for thier Search engine.

WEB OS - Hanapin sa Google
