.. no, that's the worst thing you should do. Don't sleep on your side when you sleep with a very full stomach. To make it short, the pancreas secretes enzymes to help digest your food. It's duct is located at the junction between your stomach and small intestine. When food goes out from the stomach and going in the small intestine, the pancreas will then be activated and secrete those enzymes. Now, if you have a very full stomach, and you'll be lying on your side, chances are, your stomach will rest heavily on your pancreas, thus blocking it's duct. But the pancreas won't stop with it's enzyme secretions, it will continue to do so but it's duct is blocked, so where does it's enzymes go?? It will stay inside the pancreas, thus inflammation occurs within. The pancreas is " eating" itself.

.. best advice for those people who have this habit of going to sleep after eating, sleep sitting down, or sleep in an inclined chair. Wait for 30 - 40 mins till you can lay down to bed.

    .. trivia:

.. the ITIS suffix refers to an inflammation

example: pancreaTITIS = inflammation of the pancreas

tonsilITIS = inflammation of the tonsils
conjuctiviTIS ( piskat ) = inflammation of the conjuctiva.

Thanks for the valuable information here. There's no harm in taking heed.

    1) dont eat noodles for dinner - Noodles retain a lot of water
    2) If you go to bed busog, sleep on your side nga dili maipit ang pancreas.
    3) Always drink a full glass of water before bedtime. I always do this before going to bed.

That's easy to remember. Better if you eat dinner before 6 p.m. anything after 6 p.m. do not eat anymore just drink water if you get hungry. My lola used to tell me do not go to bed hungry sab kay manungkab kuno sa kaldero imong spirit unya basin kuno dili na makagawas kay matabunan sa taklob, lol Bitaw kadtong kang Rico Yan very shocking. I used to watch him on Gimik sa TFC here. Such a handsome, promising young star! Bangungot ba ang autopsy finding sa kanya or was it his drinking and ecstacy drug use that killed him in his sleep. Puede rin heart-related. I know a friend's husband just died recently in his sleep. He was very healthy. No known medical conditions. It was his heart that killed him in his sleep.

Anyway, always keep a bottled water by your bedside. And now, i'd rather not eat noodles anymore for dinner. Unfounded or not, i'd rather take the safe route than sorry.

Good information on this thread. Thanks.
