Just like what you said bai " mura man sab ng tradition sa uban katiguwangan. " .... The tradition itself is as old as the fraternities . The first greek lettered fraternity w/c is PBK ( Phi Beta Kappa ) practiced it way back in 1775 and still does .

whether we like it or not, pain has always been associated with loyalty and quality, and not quantity.
if not for the test of endurance, we would have screaming men in the PMA or Westpoint at the sound of gunfire, and or worthless members of top-quality organisations.
if some of you consider the number of scum organisation members to be huge, the number would be worse if membership was no-sweat-free-for-all. take for example the nonsense wanna-be Bloods & Crips in the Philippines. even highschool kids walking around with nappies claim to be of some big what-not.
WATCH YOUR ATTITUDE!
but i would assume what you meant by pain is sacrifice/hardship not pain brought by paddling. And I guess there are also numerous ways of testing loyalty and quality.whether we like it or not, pain has always been associated with loyalty and quality, and not quantity.
even springfield admits that there are some TRADITIONS that are still present in fraternity hazings that are plainly nonsense.
and this physical pain that every neophyte will be experiencing... is it somewhat discriminating to those individuals who is weak by body, but has a great brain and numerous talents to share in your brotherhood?
I can understand military trainees to undergo rigorous physical pain because when they go out after that they are train to be defenders of their nation ready to kill but with regards to this fraternities why is it required to experience numerous physical pains just to be considered a brother?

WATCH YOUR ATTITUDE!
mao ni exactly akong gi-point... giving justification the kind of physical pain that a neophyte has to endure. Ang aim ba sa fraternities the same sa military? to make its members strong?if not for the test of endurance, we would have screaming men in the PMA or Westpoint at the sound of gunfire, and or worthless members of top-quality organisations.
but i guess i'll just accept springfields's explanation that it is just plain old TRADITION, that you can't get away with giving physical pain to aspiring new members.
Bai FK .... it is just like that . Wether we like it or not , it will be like that for more generations to come . To make the individual strong not for war but strong mentally in approaching things to function as a fraternity member .

giving physical pain bai will develop a person to be strong mentally? was this proven in psychology? kay ako nahibaw-an bai mao gi discourage na ang pagbunal sa bata tungod kay dili maau og epekto sa utok2x sa bata. Mao ra ba nay paagi paghimo sa usa ka taw to make the individual STRONG MENTALLY?To make the individual strong not for war but strong mentally in approaching things to function as a fraternity member.
question bai... naa ba mo disabled nga kauban? e.g. naka wheel chair. kanang disabled na siya daan before nahimong member?
I was referring to PHYSICAL HAZING in general bai n not kana pasakitan ka like paddling etc .Originally Posted by FK
