Kong naa ka'y business sa opisina sa gobiyerno, agwanta ug linya bisan haponan. Kong duna ka'y dala nga taxable inig uli sa pinas, i-declare ug bayari ang duties. Corruption is a two-way process. Eliminate the ones giving bribe and you will also eliminate the ones taking the bribe. On a larger scale, open your eyes and raise your voice when you see tongpats or scams perpetrated. Most important, vote for the right candidates. If we can do this and pass it on to our children, maybe the next generation will no longer suffer from this kind of governance.

    you know what's wrong with you? you eat everything whatever the government spoon feeds you bisan makahilo. please try not to brand other people with different opinions as "mga gagmay ug utok". do you think you're better than the other people here? yes, this administration made the peso stronger and yet people are suffering more than ever. i support the government but we should be vigilant for abuses of the government. you know those poor guys on the street have deeper love for this country than you who just wants to sit by and watch passively.

    Allow another small mind to answer your question:
    kinsa man nga president nga nkapanaug ug pag-ayo sa dolyar? - it is not the PESO that is strong it appears to be strong because of the weakening of the dollar. Small minds like us get this in our emails because we get the statistics every day.

    Even if you did not bring this up you must be impressed by the 7.5% growth that they have been crowing about - but are you aware that in a table in Newsweek, this is a phenomenon that for the same period occurred every where else on this planet? IN fact INDIA and China has been posting double digit growth ( I assume O great mind that you know what double digit means?) for the same period. How can you say that this is attritutable to the president when it is the result of the expansion of the global economy? Kahibalo ka unsa ang measurement sa ngilngig na presidente? Kanang maski naay global contraction dili mo slow down ang iyang economiya mo grow lang gihapon. Pero hala great minds like you don't ask , or question the data. They merely accept the propaganda.

    @tinsi:
    sorry to butt in but i will answer the question of donrey. "kinsa man nga president nga nkapanaug ug pag-ayo sa dolyar? or nkapasaka ug au sa atoa peso?" my answer is PGMA.

    our peso did not appear to be strong. BUT STRONG GYUD. year 2007 statistics and news stated our Phil Peso was the strongest Asian currency...no need to debate about that.

    and regarding the weakening dollar, it is not the only factor why our peso is strong.

    you might not be impressed by the 7.5% growth, but take note that it is the highest in 30 years...and it is a fact. call it propaganda but do u know that the best propaganda is being truthful? besides, this info did not come only from our gov't but also from the media & financial analysts, locally or internationally.

    in view of this, it is also noteworthy that even with these accomplishments, efforts to improve governance & economy is eternal. There are other concerns that we need to address like graft & corruption, insurgency, efficiency, effectivity, media violence, environment, population control, agriculture, infrastructure, etc...

    you cannot also compare our economy to China and India who posted double-digit growths. AFAIK, India is still number 1 in BPO's and almost everything else is made in China, an emerging superpower...

    my question is, why is it usually hard for some people to swallow or accept PGMA's accomplishments while easy to undermine or second guess her capabilities, or even accuse her of wrongdoings w/o clear facts? Is this our Pinoy nature? Im not defending PGMA but im only retrospecting...

    SWS survey says that PGMA's satisfaction ratings dropped by March 2008. of course, gi-timing man sab nila ang survey while naa tay world rice crisis, world oil crisis, and price hikes...

    as what Pres Spokesperson Ermita said (not the exact words), "it's not all about satisfaction ratings coz they always change over time. besides, a tough decision is not always a popular decision...what's more important is that we have a working President."

    @giddyboy : I think my indirect answer to the question was : the strength of the peso is not attributable to THIS president. In much the same way that in recent news, it has been covered that all this time our PESO was undervalued ( going back to the earlier administrations prior to GMA's) and that the strengthening of the peso is partly due to a correction to reflect that. Also, aside from the weakening of the dollar, the peso strengthened due to the increase in OFW remittances. Again my question is , is that attrubutable to the efforts of THIS administration?

    One thing I do attribute to this President though that she should RIGHTFULLY get credit is her political will to impose the VAT which contributed to an increased confidence in this governments intention in getting it to balance its budget. Yes a step in the right direction and even if this was a huge dent to my pocket at that point in time I was very willing to consider that this was bitter pill that needs to be swallowed. Secretary Teves said that that the government will be totally transparent with the use of the funds. Years later I still have to see where the money has gone. So this completely erases whatever credit I may have given GMA for this.

    I am not comparing this economy to china or India I am comparing the growth of this economy to the rest of the worlds because this is what this administration has been claiming as it's biggest contribution to this country.

    To your question "why is it usually hard for some people to swallow or accept PGMA's accomplishments..." that is the whole problem ... what PGMA accomplishments ba? Nga so far ang tanan nahitabo dili man tungod niya. She just happened to have the luck of being the sitting president when all this happened. IN ths same way that I do not blame her for the rising fuel prices, or for the global shortage of food ( to include rice) but neither should she be getting credit if the results are not due to the brilliance of her leadership.

    Let's just analyze this with an open mind. Ang pagmahal sa lana wala mahisakop sa sphere of influence sa atong gobyerno tungod kay kini gikontrolar sa mga langyaw. Gani, kun dili pa taas ang atong peso ikumparar sa mga ubang currency, mosamot pa unta kamahal ang presyo sa lana. Kabahin sa bugas, ibutang ta nga aduna'y mahimo ang Pilipinas tungod kai naa kita'y maayong kasinati-an ug katakus sa pagpalambo sa produksyon niini. Apan ang kamahal sa bugas, dili lang ang kagamay sa atong ani ang hinungdan kun dili anaa pa'y mga laing rason ngano kini nimahal Sama pananglitan sa pagtibugsok sa produksyon sa ubang mga nasud ug ang pagtaas sa demand sa tibuok kalibutan niining produktoha. Ang pag cartelize sa mga negosyante ug bugas ug ang pagkontrolar sa mga middlemen. Dili nato ilahap ang pagpasangil nga tungod kini sa pagpabaya sa pamunoan ni Pangulong Arroyo.
