    NEWSTARB: the DV9700t weighs around 7.7 lbs

    i got the XPS m1530 for $888 + Free software worth $130 (Adobe Photoshop Elements + Premiere Elements) -- the software i got for free after i called telling them i forgot to check the free software box.
    specs:
    15" WXGA Truelife
    T7500
    3GB RAM
    256 8600m GT
    160GB 7200RPM HDD
    extended 85WH batt
    Wireless G
    hdmi, remote, fingerprint reader, mic, webcam
    + all the standard features
    weight 5.78 lbs9 (2.62 kg)+ kay extended man

    My Gateway P-6831 FX I got it for 1199 + free $50game (i got the Orange Box)
    specs:
    17" WSXGA with brightview
    T5450 1.6>> i upgraded to T7500 2.2
    3GB DDR2 -- i upgraded to 4GB
    512MB 8800m GTS
    250GB 5400 HDD with extra HDD space for RAID
    this laptop is certainly not my Ideal config.. but certainly the best bang for the buck. I've never seen any config at this price with an 8800 card.
    -- weight--around 9-10 lbs hehehe gasakit ako likod sa sigi dala dala sa backpack.

    I say for the prices I got, they were a steal. Don't count on getting anywhere near those prices now.

    I have the Asus G1S with 8600 256MB DDR3 gpu. Good build and nice laptop.

    You should ask yourself if you want a 15.4" or a 17" laptop. The 15.4" is a bit more portable than a 17" and it can be benefit if you want to bring it here and there. You should know what kind of resolution you want on the screen. If you dont go for the best resolution then there is some money to save.
