    Mayrasad naa ning mga china products oi. Pero dugay pani mga China made Blue Ray players tingali but who knows.
    But there is a big difference in picture quality if your using those cheap players. Also the durability.

    @darkwing:

    For anyone who has been buying HD movies in the past, HD DVD was the better format. BluRay promised so much but very little of the features it was supposed to have was on the movies and even the movies that did some advance features, not all players supported them. tsk tsk. Way to go behind the scenes deals winning over consumers.

    BluRay won because it had a much more complicated DRM (BD+), which is what the studios really want, and partly because of the PS3. Oh, and probably Sony and the others with their "payoffs".

    Oh do you mean the more complicated DRM that has already been cracked and the encryption key spread all over the internet months ago? The more complicated DRM that protects the movies that have HD movies in full multi-gigabyte HD glory available for download on P2P networks? DRM has nothing to do with it. DRM as a whole is a failure and was never and will never be secure for any format and for any technology. The movie industry must be dumber than I thought if they truly believed that Bluray brought any security that wouldn't be obsolete in a few months to the table. Hmmm, lets check out the friendly neighborhood private tracker ... mmmm Michael Clayton, Blu Ray? .... click.

    Until a few months ago when Sony released it's millionth version of the PS3 with the pricedrop, you could buy a 360 Premium + HD-DVD addon for less than a PS3. It helped, but it didn't help that much.

    Which brings us to the issue of corporate struggle for profit instead of what was better for the user.

    No, I'm talking about BD+, you are probably referring to AACS, which is one of the DRM schemes used on current BluRay (and HD-DVD) discs and players. BD+ is implemented on newer BD discs, is exclusive to BluRay, and is a bitch to crack (compared to AACS, CSS/CPRM and other industry acronyms), though SlySoft says they've cracked it.

    I'm in no way advocating these DRM schemes, as most of them never really work anyway..

    Microsoft has already announced that they're going to cease production of the Xbox 360 HD-DVD addon. Another nail in the coffin for HD-DVD.

    I actually just bought the Xbox360 HD DVD add-on at it's new bargain price thinking it would fit in nicely with my little "Hall of Useless Gadgets" collection I have at home.

    At the moment it consists of the following:
    -an old Betamax player
    -an old Laser Disc player
    -a Sony Minidisc player
    -and a ***** enlargement tool that never really worked.

    Who knows, they could be worth millions one day as a collector's item.
