TV Ratings (Jan. 28-Feb. 2): Babaeng Hinugot rules Mega Manila survey, May Bukas Pa tops National survey
The ratings war between the country's two giant networks became more exciting as two new primetime shows premiered last night: GMA-7's suspense-drama Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang and ABS-CBN's inspirational drama May Bukas Pa.
The good news is that the two shows both topped the primetime race last night; Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang in Mega Manila based on the overnight survey of AGB Nielsen Philippines, and May Bukas Pa based on National survey of TNS (Taylor Nelson Sofres).
Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang, which marks the third team-up of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera in primetime TV, posted a rating of 32.9 percent to lead all shows in Mega Manila. May Bukas Pa got 26.4 percent to take the No. 8 spot.
Although Dingdong and Marian reclaimed the No. 1 spot in Mega Manila, the pilot episode of Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang in Mega Manila is surprisingly lower compared to their first two primetime shows—Marimar and Dyesebel. Marimar got 36.6 percent on its pilot episode while Dyesebel premiered with an amazing 44.9 percent.
This could be attributed to the fact that the theme of Babaeng Hinugot is more mature and contains steamy kissing scenes, which is not really suitable for the younger audience.
May Bukas Pa, topbilled by child actor Zaijan Jaranilla, generated a 36.9 percent rating in TNS's survey to lead all primetime shows. Babaeng Hinugot, on the other hand, ranked fifth with 26.3 percent.
The strong showing of May Bukas Pa in the National survey could be attributed to its inspiring story and earlier timeslot. It is shown right after TV Patrol World. Babaeng Hinugot, on the other hand, comes in after Gagambino.
In Mega Manila, Luna Mystika was a very close second with 32.8 percent; followed by Gagambino (30.8 percent), Lalola (29.4 percent), and I Love Betty La Fea (29.3 percent) to complete the Top 5.
The rest of the Top 10 were occupied by the following programs: 24 Oras (No. 6), Tayong Dalawa (No. 7), TV Patrol World (No. 9), and Eva Fonda (No. 2).
Coming in second after May Bukas Pa in the National survey of TNS is I Love Betty La Fea with 35.4 percent; followed by TV Patrol World (31.7 percent) and Tayong Dalawa (28.3 percent).
Taking the sixth to tenth place are Luna Mystika, Gagambino, 24 Oras, Eva Fonda, and Deal Or No Deal.
wala mn tingale nag brown out? heheh
Guys, pls invite your younger family members, especially kids, to watch May Bukas Pa. It is such an inspiring show. It also brings laughter and smiles to your evenings. My whole family watches it since its premier. I already expected it to top the National Surveys even if this was just a surprise add-in to primetime bida.
