It is the matter of use or the practicability of use that Intel oustshines AMD processor. The too wordy discription of AMD processor in terms of clock speed or any other technical jargons for its overall performance does not provide a clear and substantiated edge over Intel....CPU history was made by Intel....there is no argument about it.....Intel made computing possible....

Practicality comes first with PRICE...

Intel Pentium 4 1.8GHz = 7,600.00~

then... how it performs... over its price...

AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (2.083GHz) = 6,200.00
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (1.8GHz) = 5,650.00

it is not about GHz... words or advertisements... its about real world performance...
try to ask the experts! NOT those technicians who feels they are expert... :o

can anyone tell me if the fastest P4 or athlon today w/ 1GB of the best ram it can have plus a top of the line 5900u (not ati's 9700p) run doom3 ( high-quality 1024 & up ) at 150-250 fps?

from the looks of it, the newer p4 2.4c can even outperform an xp3200+ and not much performance gain between an xp2800+ to xp3200+... anyway just read the article.. very long but enlightening...
