Boy Abunda & Kris Aquino: "Boy & Kris is No. 1 nationwide!"


Nagpaliwanag na sina Boy Abunda at Kris Aquino sa kanilang programang The Buzz last Sunday, January 25, tungkol sa isyu na umano'y tatanggalin na raw sa ere ang morning show na pinagsasamahan nila, ang Boy & Kris.

Recently kasi lumabas sa iba't ibang newspaper articles ang espekulasyon na diumano'y kakanselahin na raw ang programang Boy & Kris. Nariyan pa ang intriga na mawawala na ito sa ere dahil sa mababang ratings. Sa isa pang artikulo, sinabi pang papalitan na raw ito ng talk show na ihu-host ng tatlong mga babae, na ang isa na nga raw rito ay si Lorna Tolentino.

"Unang-una, dun po muna tayo sa usap-usapan na diumano'y maka-cancel na ang Boy & Kris dahil mababa ang ratings. Hindi po ito totoo!" may paninindigang sabi ni Boy. "Sa aming timeslot po sa umaga, we are the leader in that particular timeslot. At maraming salamat po sa mga manonood. Sa nationwide ratings, sinusuportan po tayo ng buong sambayanang Pilipino."

Dagdag ni Kris, "Kasi, di ba, ang Pilipinas is not confined to a certain area only? For you to be elected anywhere, kailangan buong Pilipinas sumusuporta sa iyo."

"It is not about Metro Manila or Mega Manila or Luzon only. We are talking about the whole Philippines," sabi ni Boy.

Singit pa ni Kris, "At ang Visayas at Mindanao very solid daw sa pagiging Kapamilya. At ini-improve natin ang signal natin all over Luzon."

"Inuulit po namin, sa nationwide ratings po, leader po ang Boy & Kris, sa buong Pilipinas. Maraming salamat po," muling pahayag ni Boy. "And not only that, we have the full support of the whole advertising world. Sa aming advertisers, maraming-maraming salamat po."

Ipinagmalaki rin nina Boy at Kris ang awards na nakuha recently ng Boy & Kris sa Gandingan Awards ng UP Los Baños at New York Festival.

Sa Gandingan Awards ay itinanghal si Boy as Best Celebrity Talk Show Host, habang pinarangalan naman as Best Celebrity Talk Show ang Boy & Kris.

"Mabuhay po ang Gandingan Awards! You know why this is important to us? Mahalaga po kasi sa amin ang boses ng mga estudyante," ani Boy.

Si Kris naman ang nag-announce ng award na nakuha ng Boy & Kris sa New York Festival.

"This is very prestigious talaga. We won the Silver World Medal sa talk and TV interview sa international TV broadcasting awards ng 2009 New York Festival. Maraming-maraming salamat po sa inyo. And thank you to KC Concepcion because she was the guest in the episode that won," sabi ni Kris.

Dagdag niya, "It's very difficult to stay further kasi di ba, in the landscape of television competition is very stiff. And they always say na don't say too much kasi yung mga kakompetensiya mapaghahandaan ka."

At ang pinakahihintay na big announcement ay nanggaling kay Kris.

"Pero meron tayong puwedeng mapatikim sa kanila. Siguro Boy, on your behalf, puwede tayong magpasalamat sa management ng ABS-CBN kasi parang promotion ang magaganap para sa ating dalawa. Kung ano po ang tinutukoy ko para ho wala na akong ibang masabi at hindi na dumaldal si Ruffa, panoorin po natin ito."

At ipinakita nga na ang morning show na Boy & Kris ay malapit nang mapanood sa Primetime Bida. Kaya hindi totoong mawawala na ang Boy & Kris, kundi nalipat lang ito ng timeslot.

Angel Locsin checked out of hospital after bout with dengue


Pagkatapos ng limang araw na pagkaka-confine sa St. Luke's Medical Center dahil sa sakit na dengue, pinayagan na rin ng kanyang doktor na makalabas ang aktres na si Angel Locsin kahapon, January 27.

January 17, Saturday, matapos ang kanyang dental treatment, napansin daw ni Angel ang pagkakaroon niya ng sinat at pamamaga ng gums. Dahilan upang magpasya muna sila ng kanyang manager na si Becky Aguila na magpahinga at mag-beg off muna sa kanyang guesting sa Entertainment Live.

January 18, Sunday, dapat sana ay isa sa mga guest ng ASAP ‘09 at ng The Buzz si Angel Locsin bilang pasasalamat sa tagumpay ng pelikula nila ni Piolo Pascual na Love Me Again. Pero hindi nakarating si Angel.

January 21, Wednesday, sa Avon event na dinaluhan ni Angel, mas tumaas ang temperatura niya. Nanghihina siya at nahihilo ng mga sandaling iyon. Bagay na ikinabahala ng kanyang boyfriend na si Luis Manzano at ni Becky.

January 22, Thursday, tuluyan nang isinugod sa St. Luke's Hospital si Angel dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng kanyang lagnat.

Nakunan ng The Buzz ng pahayag si Luis tungkol sa pagkakasakit na ito ni Angel.

"The next day, bigla na lang siyang nag-high fever. At she started throwing up, kasi ang taas ng fever niya, nagpu-40 siya, nagti-39. Then, nagto-throw up siya at nagsimulang ma-dehydrate siya," kuwento ni Luis.

"Namumula talaga siya. Ang first findings talaga is dengue. Pero kumbaga, yun ang primary suspect, as of now, yun nga, dengue. Bumaba na yung fever pero they are still trying to look for the infection, kung saan talaga nanggagaling yung pagtaas ng white blood cells niya."

Dahil sa mga sintomas na meron si Angel, dumaan siya sa series of tests para sa dengue. Ang isang taong walang sakit na dengue ay may platelet count ng dugo na 140-440, pero si Angel ay bumaba ang platelet count ng 120.

"Mahina siya. She's not the typical Angel na makulit. Medyo nanghina lang siya ng konti. Pero she's aware naman of everything. Nanghina lang. Wala kaming napansin kaagad na rashes kaya hindi namin napuna na dengue," paglalarawan pa ni Luis kay Angel.

Pangalawang beses na raw nagkaroon ng dengue si Angel. Una noong 2005, nang manggaling si Angel sa U.S.

Ngayong nakalabas na si Angel, dahil na rin sa kanyang pagpipilit, pinayuhan daw siya ng kanyang doktor na magpahinga ng isang linggo para tuluyan na siyang gumaling. Nagbilin din daw sa kanya ang doktor na huwag siyang lalabas ng bahay at magtrabaho dahil baka mabinat siya.

Dahil kailangan pa niyang magpahinga, hindi makakasama si Angel kay Piolo sa premiere ng Love Me Again sa Paris, France sa Biyernes, January 30.

Now, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) presents the top 20 sexiest male and female celebrities of 2008. Our list is based on a survey we conducted among lifestyle magazine editors, writers, and showbiz insiders. Ranking in both gender categories starts from the bottom up.

SEXIEST LADIES

10. Luningning. One writer describes Luningning as the only reason he continues to watch Wowowee. Luningning's sexiness on television can be described as "wholesome," appealing not only to the adult audience but to the young Luningning-wannabes who dream of a dance showdown with her.

9. Bianca King. This La Salle-College of St. Benilde filmmaking major seems to have mastered the art of playing baddie while looking hot at the same time. Kinda like the way the veteran actress Rosa Rosal used to essay her vampy contravida characters in the old black and white Tagalog films—scheming, evil but sizzling-hot sexy. Another reason for Bianca making it to the list is just how natural her sexy curves are. Not an ounce of fat; sexiness untouched by cosmetic science, just as nature intended.

8. Daiana Menezes. Our bella amiga from Brazil came to Manila in 2006 and fell in love with our country. We Pinoys reciprocated by making her our favourite Brazilian. 4. Ehra Madrigal. The bosomy Kapuso got the number 6 spot in the FHM Philippines' 100 sexiest women list. But her fans think she should be on the number one spot, or at least a higher ranking than 6, since she was on the cover of the leading men's magazine twice (2006 and 200 and was also in the top 10 of the 100 sexiest list of FHM twice.

3. Katrina Halili. Two-time FHM sexiest Filipina, three-time FHM cover girl, two-time FHM calendar girl, Belo Medical Group image model and said to be the reason behind the Dra. Vicki Belo-Dr. Hayden Kho breakup. Need we say more? But the first StarStruck alumna to be on the cover of the country's leading men's magazine fell short of the number one spot in this little survey by PEP. The respondents think it has something to do with the way she shifted her image from bad and sexy to a wholesome underdog goodie.

2. Angel Locsin. She has always been considered one of the sexiest stars in local showbiz. In fact, she was FHM Philippines' sexiest woman of 2005, the Philippines' hottest woman of 2008 by Maxim Philippines, and was also given the "Road Distraction Award" by the first Supreme to the Extreme Awards for her very sexy Folded & Hung billboards. Her Lobo "nude" scenes (after shape-shifting from wolf to human) were much discussed in fan web forums, as well as by tabloid columnists who noted how Angel's present home studio, ABS-CBN, has finally recognized and tapped her *** appeal.

1. Cristine Reyes. She might have landed the cover of FHM only in 2007, but the adoration and excitement for Cristine continued until 2008. And as the year ended, her male fans just can't get enough of her in Eva Fonda and Banana Split. Some of the male respondents of this little survey by PEP opined that flawless and voluptuous Cristine is sure to grab the top spot in next year's Philippines' sexiest list, if the right projects continue and if some minor tweaking on her image-packaging will be done.

10. Will Devaughn. Girls like his rugged mixed Filipino-African-American-German looks, plus the fact that he is not shy about showing off his sexy body.

9. Jon Avila. The Fil-Irish muffin's sexy green eyes, coupled with his equally sexy body, is enough for any girl to go "yummy!" This former bank employee used to weigh more than 200 pounds before deciding to cut down his weight and join the Century Tuna search for models where he won the title Super Bod. Now, Kapitan Boom enjoys his sexy, light, 178-pound body with his 6-foot one frame. He says he doesn't want to go back to his 200-plus pound weight again, and we're sure a lot of his fans agree with him.

8. Robin Padilla. Gay showbiz reporters can't get enough of Robin's Joaquin Bordado publicity photos. The photos of the GMA-7 2008 action-telefantasya were so sexy, some of the reporters did not even give them to the tabloids and magazines they work for. Some women find Robin unappealing in photos because of his long hair, visible body scars and tattoos. 5. Paolo Contis. At the Cosmoplitan 2008 Bachelors Bash show, Paolo walked the ramp and successfully conquered his fear of getting booed or receiving a bland reaction from the audience. After playing Sergio in Marimar and Fredo in Dyesebel, he is now known as Dingdong Dantes, the sexiest man in local showbiz.

Aga Muhlach looking forward to working with Angel Locsin and Lea Salonga

It was an early Valentine's Day celebration for Charlene Gonzales when her husband of eight years, Aga Muhlach, gave her a surprise song number during a press conference held yesterday, January 27.

Charlene and the press people invited to the formal launch of Pond's Age Miracle were pleasantly surprised when Raymond Lauchengco appeared at the Rigodon Ballroom of Peninsula Hotel in Makati City to serenade the former beauty queen.

The balladeer sang "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" but he improvised a bit by changing the lyrics of the song to go: You're just too good to be true / He can't take his eyes off of you.

After his performance, someone handed a bouquet of tulips to Charlene while other waiters went around the venue to distribute tulips to the media people present at the product launch.

Raymond then sat down with Aga, Charlene and event host Sarah Meier to chat about Aga and his bachelor days. Incidentally, the two actors appeared together in youth-oriented flicks such as Bagets (1984) and Hot Shots (1991).

"Aga is a good singer," reveals Raymond. "I've done shows with him before. I was wondering why did he need me [to serenade Charlene]? In fact, we're going to demonstrate it [Aga's singing abilities] later on."

The singer then complimented Charlene by saying, "You're much prettier than JC [Bonnin, Charlene's male cousin who is now a pastor in London]."

Aga recalls that he met Raymond when he was 14 years old and the balladeer was 17 years old back then. "I saw JC twenty years after Bagets and he told me, ‘Son of a gun! You married my cousin!'"

How has Aga changed since he was 14 years old? "You know, we used to get together and Aga liked to talk about cars and girls and cars and girls...but he's changed. I bumped into him ten years later and he would still talk about cars but this time, he talks about women," he quipped.

Raymond then turned serious as he told Charlene, "After he got married and personally seeing how beautiful your relationship is, I'm proud to say that my friend here has become a one-woman man. He has filled his very heart and soul with just you."

After a few minutes, Raymond stood up to sing his second song for the couple and he encouraged Aga to sing along with him. The former matinee idol obliged and sang a few bars of "Just Got Lucky" while dishing out dance moves that were popular during the ‘80s.

UPCOMING PROJECTS. After the joint press conference organized by Pond's for their celebrity couple, Aga met with the entertainment press to talk about his upcoming projects for 2009.

There have been reports that Aga will once again be seen on television. He confirmed this by saying, "We're gonna announce it pa. Probably we're gonna announce it in March then we're gonna start taping it. It's gonna be a sitcom."

Is he open to doing a teleserye? "No, because I love movies. Kung ganon din lang, I'll give my time to movies talaga. That's my number one love."

Is it also true that he will be working on a movie with Angel Locsin?

"Yeah, well sinabi sa kin ng Star Cinema and I posed a couple of projects to them already. I'm just waiting for the scripts like the one with Angel and the one with Lea [Salonga], whom I'm looking forward to working with soon because I heard Lea is also finished with her commitments so hopefully we can start soon.

According to a source from Aga's camp, his movie with Angel will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. It is slated to premiere by August, which is the birth month of Aga.

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Aga about being paired with younger leading ladies. It will be recalled that he was previously paired with Angelica Panganiban for A Love Story (2007) and Anne Curtis for When Love Begins (200.

"Well, I guess it doesn't matter naman whether you're young or you're old. Well, I guess kung babagay talaga yung istorya sa min, e, no problem. I guess more than the teamup, it's the story that will carry everything. I always make sure naman pag gumagawa ako ng movie dapat ang istorya maayos at babagay [sa akin]."

Does he feel flattered about being paired with younger women?

"Hindi naman ako namimili, e. Kumbaga that's really my project...I'm happy na hindi nila tinatanggihan."

Before the interview ended, the actor was asked to reveal his secret for keeping his marriage intact after eight years.

"We just keep it private," explains Aga. "I don't go out. [Laughs] If you don't go out, no temptation!"
