ok, if nalapas na iya gi-serve nga term nya pugngan pa gihapon ni gma, so wat? its a prerogative of a president...but i don't want to be cruel...i feel mas taas nga sentence gyud unta gihapon cya like 20 yrs more...better yet, rot in prison...

When someone is convicted of RAPE , angay gyud ana DEATH ang sentence but abolished man siya so ang equivalent nmiya na LIFE TERM na dili eligible for PARDON ang ihatag .

the reason why jalosjos is was freed is because his sentence was commuted. now after they computed his time served plus good behavior, lapas na iyang gi-serve over sa commuted sentence.

if we were in the U.S., technically, jalosjos is already due to be for release but PGMA won't allow it because of political pressure.

if i remember it right, jalosjos was not convicted of rape but acts of jalosjosness (lasciviousness). if i am not mistaken, his original sentence was not the death penalty in the first place.

Philippine Justice Chief Raul Gonzalez
told the press that President Arroyo
"fired" Bureau of Corrections chief Ricardo Dapat and installed former national police chief Oscar Calderon as acting Bureau of
Corrections chief.

Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez refused to comment as to why President Arroyo
ordered Dapat to be replaced.

Bureau Chief Dapat’s "firing" originated from the controversial technical escape or release of ex-lawmaker convicted child rapist
Romeo Jalosjos over the weekend aboard
a private plane.

"The president has ordered the relief of Gen. Dapat and appointed Gen. Calderon but she has not given me any reason if it was in connection with the Jalosjos case," Justice Chief Gonzalez told the press.

Raul Gonzalez said that the investigation on the controversial release of convicted child rapist Romeo Jalosjosd is still set to go full blast, sources in Manila said.

The Philippine National Police re-arrested Romeo Jalosjos when he ignored the order of Justice Chief Raul Gonzalez and walked out of the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila and flew aboard a private plane to his hometown in Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, south of Philippine Islands, days before Christmas day.

Police Director General Avelino Razon, Philippine National Police chief, said Romeo Jalosjos was an "escaped felon" despite the ex-lawmakers's claim that he was a "free man" and already released by the Bureau of Corrections.

Meanwhile, Former Bureau of Corrections director Vicente Vinarao blamed "Dapat" for Jalosjos's "ala great escape."

The former prison chief told the press that
prison chief Dapat failed to keep track of Romeo Jalosjos' movements despite having command responsibility of the national penitentiary.

"Jalosjos's defiance of the government pronouncements that he will have to stay in prison until July 2009 should have alerted him (referring to Dapat) to closely monitor his movement," former prison chief Vinarao said.

Ex-lawmaker Romeo Jalosjos was sentenced in 1997 by the Makati Regional Trial Court to
"2 life terms on two counts of statutory rape and six counts of acts of lasciviousness of an 11-year-old child."

How in heaven's name that convicted child rapist and molester Romeo Jalosjos just walked out breezefully from the prison with all those "*****s" in uniform around that
whorehouse jail premises ? and added " only if the public know how much monies are exchanging in Philippine jail houses !"

TIMELINE

After Jalosjos's conviction in 1997 to serve 2
life sentences, the Philippine Supreme Court upheld the lower court's decision in 2001 and ordered the convicted Philippine lawmaker, as punitive damages, to pay the child victim P50,000 pesos as civil indemnity for each count of statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness, and moral damages amounting to P50, 000 each count.

In April 2007, the Presidential palace acted upon the recommendation of the Department of Justice and commuted child rapist Romeo Jalosjos' sentence to 16 years, 3 months and 3 days. and ordered Romeo Jalosjos
to pay the civil indemnity and punitive moral damages imposed on him by the Philippine Supreme Court.
