But this is not far from happening. GMA might open it to foreigners especially they are at odds with the Lopezes. I wish the airline industry will follow suit so that they will shape up.

There's still a lot of lobbyists for that matter:
(1) Medicines: multi-national pharma firms could appeal to the House to stop the 'cheap medicine bill'. we already have the generic drugs bill, but somehow it did not drive med prices down significantly...
(2) Fuel & Oil: the big 3 (Caltex, Shell, Petron) are still perceived to be monopolizing fuel prices to their advantage and will undoubtedly exert any efforts to stop the repeal of the 'oil deregulation law'.
(3) Air transpo: Seair (owned by PAL..Lucio Tan) is blocking Cebu Pacific's plan to open flights to Boracay...
as of this time, PAL has the most expensive local airline tickets as compared to others.

i aprov na unta ang cheap med bill. bg help na kau na sa tanan
approved na bay sa Congress on its final reading...next is concurrence sa Senate nlng. hapit na jud!!!Originally Posted by jntio
After its approval in the House, the bill will be sent to the Senate for concurrence, although some lawmakers are not hopeful it will be passed before Congress goes on a month-long recess for the holidays.
The bill seeks to increase the poor’s access to medicines by, among other things, allowing parallel importation of patented medicines and revising the Intellectual Property Code which provides protection for holders of medicine patents.
^ I hope so. At least, the tedious process of passing a piece of legislation is almost finished. I just hope the two chambers of Congress will able to pass legislation in the nearest possible time. This has been one of the priority bills of the president because it will ultimately benefit the people.
It's a fact that at present, we have relatively high prices of medicine compared to our foreign counterparts. With the passage of this legislation, the people will be relieved of such burden.
