Cars being turned into taxis lower its image..Are filipinos too image conscious?

i dont really mind.. as long as the cabs are comfortable. by that, i mean it doesn't stink, the seats are not torn up or messed up, cool aircon, good speakers for the radio and a courteous driver..

i think the issue filipinos have has got to do with the image of taxis here, not the type or model of car.

most cabs in the philippines are run down--bad seats, broken handles, stinky, dirty, with matching driving who doesn't care and will try to wangle above and beyond what the meter says (except in baguio--have never had a cab driver there who asked for more than what the meter said). you don't want to own a vehicle the is associated with badly kept ones.

economics play a role too as usually, proper car maintenance is beyond the means & resources of the drivers here. so i imagine that even if a benz were driven here as a taxi, it would be run-down and horrible.

hong kong, singapore, the UK, france--the cabs i've ridden were well-kept, well maintained, with polite (or at least stoic) drivers.

yah! i can relate with this...ambut ngano we have this views cguro madaot jud ang image sa sakyanan kay it would seem "cheap" ba.

thats true sis.. infact ang Toyota wala ng release ug white na bag-ong models sa Vios ron ky himoon ra kunno ug taxi mka, degrade sa ila skyanan...

its not just cars bai... it trickles down to other aspects man. cebuanos are getting brand and image conscious sometimes to the point that it’s irrational... probably why havaianas are so popular when in fact they're made of the same rubber some low-cost brands are... or ipods for that matter... i think Creatives are better but they don't have the "cool" factor associated with an ipod. its just branding that's hyping it

the automatic doors are really cool.

pero na shock ko one time when i saw a compact car turned into a taxi.
my first time to see it in japan.
