Musical Instrument Digital Interface or miidi does not need codecs, what you need to find out is:
start/settings/control panel/sound and audio devices
sa tab go to audio then check if there is an assigned midi synth if wala then your sound card does not have a soft synth which is highly unlikely so more probable guba ang sound card if thats the case.

If there is an assigned synth like microsoft GS Wavetable SW synth or yamaha XG etc., then go to the volume control of your soundcard
start/settings/ ontrol panel/sound and audio device
sa volume press advanced para mo gawas ang playback mixer, make sure that midi synth is not muted and volume is enabled.
On third party players like winamp, van basco, encore, or sequencer programs usually midi output is set to default sa midi mapper, just check sa settings or options if it is assigned to microsoft midi mapper.
Other possibilities, you have two soundcards, one onboard, the other pci like an audigy, the midi synth is assigned is to the onboard but the audio out is to the pci.
There is also a setting in some older soundcards to disable the midi synth
at start/settings/control panel/sound and audio devices/ hardware tab
You can also uninstall/reinstall the soundcard
and if that fails, buy a new soundcard

bro, mura guba soundcard kay wala ang synthesis or soft synth sa location nga imo gi describe. thanks

bro.. naa nay settings nga imo i configure..

1 double click ka sa volume control icon sa system tray or click on Start|All Programs|Accessories|Entertainment|Volume Control
2 click options > properties
3 sa playback.. make sure naka check ang synth or midi aron madisplay na^ didto.

win 98, but same bro, have check all boxes. wala man sad MIDI box. thanks anyway.

unsa imong pc ug soundcard? on board or pci? kung pci, guba na imong soundcard or the wrong driver is installed, if on board basin pa naka disabled ang soft synth sa bios
