usually DSL modems already have an ethernet port (RJ45) in it. If so, two things you need to consider.
First. Does the DSL modem do the NAT or is it just a transparent modem?
Second. If it does the NATting works, does it act as DHCP server in the inside (private) network?
If the DHCP is active, just plug a DHCP client and you could obtain the necessary information from it.
Modem's IP address, Gateway, DNS servers, etc.
You said your DSL provider told you that you have a static IP account. You can ask them what's your account IP address.
Keep us posted.
@Tamblot - bro what does NAT and Transparent mean? actually i have no concern about the modem, i only want to know is the settings of this router which is DLink, coz i plan to change it to LINKSYS.

NAT is network address translation. Translates your private IP block to public. If you want to know the settings of DLink, you need to know its password first. otherwise, to manage it, you will have to reset it to factory default which would erase all settings.
Maybe, just maybe. DLink has some overide password just like other security boxes. look for a manual of that and check if it has one.
bro, e try ni obos basin mo work.
