Yup.Sony PD-170 or the VX2100 are really good cameras for anything from ENG, docus, to making indie films.
Both were used to film the movies Homework (the former) and Open Water (the latter)
Guapo sad panasonic PVGS400. Really small 3ccd camera with a Leica lens. Excellent color rendition. Aint as good with low light as the Sonys though, but at almost half the price you can't lose. Cost around 80t-plus when it came out a couple of years ago. Should be less now.
as much as i want a camcorder, im kinda obsessed with the Leica M7. if you've seen Eurotrip and a bunch of other movies screaming product placement, you'll have likely heard of this camera.

and this lens is the main reason i'm obesessed. its the fastest production lens in the world. it costs more than a panasonic ag-dvx100a. it does f/1. if you dont know what that means, ill just put it simply... it means you can shoot at night with just a grain of available light, or in total available darkness as the leica addicts joke about it. you dont even need those big bulky flash systems. just use it on an m7 which has built in flash in it and prance the streets at night. thats what i always liked to do. thats why its called the noctilux, night-light.

we all should start a photography thread and post some nice pictures. other posts are kinda boring nowadays.
Have you read the childboards in the Arts and Lit. forums? ;-bwe all should start a photography thread and post some nice pictures. other posts are kinda boring nowadays.
nope, never been to other forums except music and this one.
but yeah... when i get old i'll make it my life mission to own an m7 and a noctilux. and a guild d-55 guitar...
Hey, Is it just with the Leica lens cams that you can get this kind of pictures with low light? Or also through long exposure/shutter settings? I usually use long shutters when taking pics at night, but movements of the person or the cam makes the pictures blur...
You can also get this by using any lens with a wide aperture opening.
but we are getting out of topic...this is not a photography thread.
is there a handycam with a leica lens?
from what i know about photography(very little, i just read on the net a lot), it depends on the lens. the lens is pretty much what makes the photograph, close second is the photographer(you) and third is the settings in the camera. if it's blurring thats bothering you then you need to practice on focusing, you need to be familiar with your lens and its focal length settings. with a Leica lens like the noctilux or any Leica lens for that matter(Summilux, Summicron) , i doubt you'll ever get a really bad shot, maybe a bad shot, but one thats kinda acceptable. thats how exquisite it is.... hehe.Originally Posted by onin111
Leica only makes lens for the panasonic, almost all new Panasonic camcorders are fitted with Leica lens(Leica Dicomar). Main reason why I'm biased.Originally Posted by Flame alchemist
