heat issue avoid intel

if your into gaming go with amd

if your into video encoding go with intel

intel 600 series dont heat that much compare to the 500 & lower series sa Prescott
if ur just a regular PC or gamer user go for AMD
but if ur into Editing some stuff or other mulimedia aplications GO for intel, they might be a bit slower than the AMD 64 but they last longer than AMD 64 1.8ghz

a64s = gaming..very good ocer..uses less power...
intel = multitasking/multimedia..has heat issues..
..generally speaking

6xx series has 2mb caches..compared to 512kb cache of d 3000+..but performance is determined by more than cache size..having all that extra cache does not necessarily make a processor faster...

amd is usually a bit cheaper than the equivalent intel aswell...

you can't go wrong with any platform. general use (wordprocessing, browsing, etc), video / 3d rendering go intel. gaming go amd... that is based on my experience... I have a P4 setup and an Athlon64 setup.
