Got a few PMs already. Thanks to those who showed interest, who sent me PMs and to those who will be attending this Saturday. I've got some questions and I think there's two that I think is worthy to be placed here for everybody to see and to understand more what the group is all about. Here are the two concerns/questions:

[1] What is the mission/vision of the group? Actually the message that I got was that the vision of the group is too broad.

Basically, the goal of the group is to provide financial awareness and the necessary financial tools in order to increase one's net worth and to achieve financial security. Let me elaborate further.

    Here are very alarming statistics:

    I. According to Philam Life, only 4% of Filipino households have life insurance plans and average life insurance coverage is only P400,000.

II. Not more than 2% of Filipinos have stock market trading accounts while the last time I read it, only around 6% of the Filipino population have mutual fund accounts. More than 80% still prefer banks.

We see that there is a huge need to educate the Filipino people hence, in our very little ways, we are trying to bridge the gap by changing the mindset of the people and introduce better financial tools, financial tools that can give real growth (growth above the inflation rate). Philippines is severely underinsured since people don't value the significance of insurance and not a lot of Filipinos are involving themselves in the stock market or other investment tools.

For now, we are attending to a lot of things with the SEC registration as the top priority. Even before we started the meet ups last February, we already have the mission and vision in mind and we are all practicing it already. I guess there is just a need to reword or rephrase it in order to make it clearer.

[2] Is the group same as IMG?

No, this club is not the same as IMG. IMG is registered as a business, a distribution firm. This group is a non-profit organization. Though we are still working on its legalities (permits, registrations, etc.), we will register it as a non-profit organization at SEC.

The fees or contributions will all be used/spent to cover expenses incurred during the group's operations such as venue and projector rentals and registration fees.

I would like to emphasize that the group sells nothing but is more than willing to help the businesses of its members (as long as it is not conflict with the group's vision and must be approved by the group).

The group is plainly and purely an advocacy. Though the teachings or principles may be the same (since financial principles are all more or less the same), the nature of the group is totally different from IMG.

I'm certain that a few have already seen some of my posts stating our regular meet ups to talk about financial planning and stock market trading and updates. Here are the details about the group.

    Schedule: Every other Saturday
Venue: Baseline Complex Conference Room 2
    Time: 1PM to 5PM
Outline of Topics: 1PM to 3PM: Financial Planning Basics (and in general); 3PM to 4PM: Stock Market Basics; 4PM to 5PM: Stock Market Updates
Fee: P70 per schedule inclusive of snacks

Originally, we are doing this for free since we are meeting only on coffee shops. We created the group with the goal in mind of increasing the financial IQ and awareness of its members (committed members that is) and in the process increasing everybody's net worth in the long run. However, as the group started to grow, we realized the need to rent a place in order to accommodate everybody and for privacy. Coffee shops are no longer convenient for at least 15 attendees. Allow me to justify the fee that we are asking from attendees:

[1] The fees collected will help in augmenting the rent. Aside from the venue, the group is also renting a projector. For every schedule, the group is actually spending around P4T. I would like to emphasize that the group is not earning a single cent from the fees since it will just be used to help pay the rent and other expenses.

[2] We are moving up from mere meet ups to formal lectures hence the group wants to attract the right people, not free loaders. We are assuming that if people are indeed serious in learning more about financial planning and the stock market, then they'd be willing to shell out P70.

Our next schedule will be on July 27 and the topics will be as follows:

1PM to 3PM: Erroneous Money Mindset
3PM to 4PM: Stock Market Basics (very ideal for people who want to know what the stock market is all about)
4PM to 5PM: Stock Market Updates

I'm going to be the speaker on all of these topics this Saturday. We will have a money back guarantee to those who are unsatisfied with the lectures. We want to give value on everybody's money.

Here are a few pictures from our previous meet ups.

Members attending the technical analysis seminar (stock market trading) of Miko Sayo of Tsupitero.com

Mutual funds lecture last July 13, 2013

Networking or any kind of selling is not allowed and is highly discouraged not unless it is being approved by the club.

To those who are interested, please feel free to let me know. As of now, the venue can only hold up to 30 persons.

I will find time to attend the next lecture (Aug. 10), what would be the topics? By the way, would the lectures every other Saturday be differ in topics? Would there be some handouts?

Topics aligned this Aug. 10 are:

    I. Entrepreneurship
II. Continuation of stock market basics
    III. Stock market updates

We have invited a speaker for the topic about entrepreneurship. The speaker we invited is Jun Esma.

Regarding the handouts, wala sa for now since it will be an additional cost.
I think pdf files will suffice for now.

Handouts are already in our list but for now, since the group is little tight financially, wala lang sa.
What we are thinking actually is sending pdf files to those who attended (on a particular date) para mas cost efficient.
