@TS:
Take Rodsky for example. He mostly post to topics especially in Science section backed-up with evidences/facts, but think of it, what he would feel if someone will just click the dislike link without even exerting efforts to disagree on him? Also take it in reverse. IMO, "dislike" is such an ultimate lazy feature for people who lack the time, or something else, to engage in actual discussion/conversation.

well ive been doing like that ever since, scrutinizing the stupid post... but sometimes its not worth to post a word to show discontent.... a dislike should not be targeted at a user it should be targeted on the posts it self... coz not all poster are stupid they just do it once in a while...
^^ to be honest kung naa palang dislike, suki naka basing on the posts here....
if quoting threads to scrutinize it is enough to the owner of the forum.... that's enough for all of us.![]()

The best way to avoid abuse is to never implement the feature at all.
The fact that people are even discussing the appropriate uses of "dislike" is reason enough why dislike shouldn't be implemented. If you have to teach people the correct and acceptable use of a feature, then we don't want it. Take for example another thread that discusses animated GIFs. Animated GIFs can be annoying. Animated GIFs can be bandwidth hogs. Yes we can explain the proper use of animated GIFs ... in fact somewhere in the past, we did explain and give infractions to those who used animated GIFs inappropriately. But we also had the power of disallowing it altogether and saving us the hassle of having to monitor another aspect of the forum ... so we made sure no one was able to use animated GIFs. A rotten few spoiled the fun for everyone. That is why a dislike button is not something we want ... because while it may have some use ... it has a greater chance of abuse.
