if you try to see whats on Section 423 creation & election of SK has to offer. nindot jud kaayo the way the law protects & give importance of our youth. only then that some of the guidelines are not being followed. kay mao lagi because of corruption.

to give you an idea of the powers & functions of SK para ma appreciate ninyo unsa ka importante ang SK...

Promulgate resolutions necessary to carry out the objectives of the youth in the barangay, in accordance with applicable provisions of the Code; Initiate programs designed to enhance the social, political, economic, cultural, and intellectual, moral, spiritual and physical development of the members; Hold fund raising activities, the proceeds of which shall be tax exempt and shall accrue to the Sangguniang Kabataan general fund; Create such bodies or committees necessary to effectively carry out its programs and activities; Submit annual end-of-term reports to the Sangguniang Barangay on their projects and activities; Consult and coordinate with all youth organizations in the barangay for policy formulation and program implementation; Coordinate with the Presidential Council for Youths (PCYA) and other National Government Agencies (NGA) concerned for the implementation of youth development projects and programs at the national level; and Exercise such other powers and perform such other duties and functions as the Sangguniang Barangay may determine or delegate or as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.

ok man unta ang concept sa SK. Pero maski ang youth elections, politicized kaayo, I know one SK winner who spent around 100k+ just to win an election, nya sauna pato ha ug sa probinsya ambot nlng kaha ron. So sayo pa kaayo, na set na ang pattern sa mga TRAPO. Sayang.

We need SK for our youth to have a say in the community & government but I highly suggest that the age requirement be increased.

it's as if they are really representing the voice of the youth?! good thing if they are! what are their accomplishments lately?! tsk tsk tsk... let me think!murag kana raman pag attend nila ug seminar ug represent-represent kuno... or perhaps they are just satisfied with their title and the comfort that later in life they would step up the ladder of pure politics.. PREDICTABLE! whatta shame... ilaha pud na!

i hope someone would further justify the purpose of SK in Philippine governance... at least para dili pud ta one-sided. naa gud na sila budget and programs di ba?! if only i could be easily convinced

Actually mao nay problema pud. Sagaran SK chairman kay anak or pag-umankon sa usa ka politico. Like Barangay Councils, they have been used by higher ranking elected officials for control and garnening of votes. Mao na kinahanglan gyud i revamp.

i think ang sweldo sa mga sk chairmen kay pareha ra sa basic salary sa mga councilors.. depende rapud sa town/city..

as what LytSlpr said, dapat ang age sa SK pasakaan. well uyon ko ani. immature kaayu ang mga sk leaders karon. also, too bad sk leaders will know how to cheat during elections, corruption, scandals, etc.
