The private sector is backing basketball here in the Philippines. Though we don't stand a good chance internationally, Filipinos love basketball a lot, and that means profit for these people. It boils down to business and as far as basketball vs football is concerned, basketball is far more lucrative than football.

Our government never supports sports, or if ever they do, the support that they are giving isn't enough. The private sector brings life to sports here in the Philippines.

Apparently, you can't give support immediately just after a very impressive showing against Vietnam. Take note that the Philippines is not a known football power until recently (I hope that their good showing wasn't a fluke). Football here in RP should first earn a reputation, just like basketball and boxing. Their performance, especially the win over Vietnam, is a good start and if they could continue it, for sure they will be getting the support that they need.

I think the Philippine Football team needs to win more competition or at least perform better, maybe that is the only way Filipinos will give more attention to Football.

As of the moment , layo pa ni sa reality. Just because na abot ta sa semis sa Suzuki Cup, I think dili ni enough para mag ka interest ang mga Filipino. However, at least now mas aware ta na naa tay potential sa sport na Football.

before we ask for support, first we must build interest, interest sa football among all pinoys. pinoys should understand the game, tan-aw man gud sa mga pinoy sa game na football kay boring, kapoy og tan-aw walay score2x, sige lang og pasa2x etc. football should have something like the PBA, a national league, bring back the PFL (Philippine Football League) where players from different regions of the country clash it out, i remember way back in the 90's PFL was even televised, i always signed up as a ball boy back then when PFL came to town. at least with the azkals win against vietnam, it sparked an interest among pinoys, the win buzzed hype sa tibuok isla sa pilipinas hehe. the media played a big role in sparking the interest sad, i was shocked when ABS and GMA, etc highlighted a football match in the news. bisan ang dili mga football fanatics na intriga na lang og apil kung unsay nahitabo, nanu diay kung nidaog kontra vietnam, etc. ang uban naki ride on na lang sa balita. seriously, the azkals should grab more W's to impress more sponsors, or the government maybe. they must prove that the win against vietnam was not a fluke! of course that win is worth celebrating but if they cant do well in the semis, well malimtan ra pod na sa mga pinoy ang ila achievements, balik na pod sa uno.
