Get the 550D.

The 550D is better than the 500D at high ISO. It has a -5 +5 exposure compensation, and its video is at par with the 7D and 5DMKII. The full HD video of the 500D is useless.

invest more on the lens guys the output is more important, even old models can par with the new ones keep on shooting everyone and learn from every shot you take.

hi there a 500d user here. Very happy to have owned a DSLR (last december) and mind you the hd vid of the unit is pretty useful to me. As for the TS the comments before me are true. Weigh things out especially for your pocket. If you are conscious about the indifference between the 500d or 550d then think twice

when a 600d is out you will want to own a newer version. What i'm trying to say is set your mind and heart to what you really want and not just what's in or not beacuase contentment can never be achieved if you have doubts.

If you really want a good DSLR then go full frame. Mind you if you buy the 550d then months later naa na pud 600d you will have doubts again why ning palit ka sa 550d. Unsay kaya sa imong budget go for it if kaya nimo ang 550d go ahead if not huna2x.a pag ayo.

Again as mentioned, "it's who behind the camera, not the camera". Invest sa lens first (when you have your unit and try to see what you like to shoot) then if you think you have outgrown the capacity of your camera then get a semi pro cam or full frame.

Evolve slowly and if you're ready to fast-track...then go ahead
