i like the photos. The underexposure gave an impression that it was taken at some intimate exclusive place rather than at Ayala.
again I dont want shots like its clearly from a mall otherwise I wouldn't have wasted my time shooting the event like how everyone does it with a camera.
again I want it to look more of in a bar or something more other than a just a will lit mall stage with boutiques and restaurants as backgrounds.
and Im not the type of person who jumps at every opportunity to snap at every celebrity they bumped into
and I want it to be more of her---her red dress, the contour of her figure, against the almost black dark background.
but again...point well taken guys. Its just a matter of how u prefer the results of ur shots
tnx for the inputs
I think I understand the effect you're after here. It's a good one, definitely better than just grabbing a quick shot. However, as the other guys stated, the subject is quite underexposed thereby making her almost as dark as the background. Her red dress and the contour of her body should stand out and be emphasized to create a juxtaposition and not blend seamlessly with the dark background.
^^^here here I agree
maybe I need to calibrate my screen
or maybe a little post processing--brightness, contrast will do the trick.
its just that im too lazy for it..a snap then to the PC is usually my workflow
specially shots Im not expecting to take.
tnx guys

what metering did u use? mahayag hayag kana ni kon spot gigamit?
i looked at it again, im not a pro though, but i believe ug wala lang na apil sa composition ang spotlight (i was referring to 1st up to the 3rd pix) the pictures would looked like it was shoot in a dim bar or something with lighting just enough to light the singers face, but tungod sa spotlight ma klaro na noon ang difference sa actual light source and the light nga ni igo sa subject which makes the image under exposed. but with the 4th up to the last pics i see no problem with it...IMHO
maybe siguro sa thought nga naa sa ayala it should be well lit. hahahahah
my point, again, man gud if I have it well let then I wouldnt have taken it. pareha ra gihapon na sa uban nga pictures nga naa sa mall only si karylle lang ang subject. not worth the effort.
but...there u go...to each in our own opinion pud lagi.
tnx pud guys for the inputs, again. heheh
Sorry about this post.. but i think i have to give you a bit of a hmm... criticism. i don't really want to do something like this, especially when not asked. I just need to say something here.
anyway, here it goes...
I have no problem about taking opportunities. Grab some shots ASAP, coz "moments" are more important than making a photo perfect. BUT...
what you have here, is not just about taking QUICK photos. This moment didn't really happen in a split second or definitely NOT less than 5 secs. This is not a situation when you don't have enough time to make a least an acceptable exposure. You have a few angles, you were able to do a few steps to your right / left, do some zooms, wait for some good moments (high note + point of a finger for example)...
About the effects, yes i think i get what you mean... but it would have been better if you were 2 stops higher at least. 2 stops is 6 steps in turning the shutter speed / aperture / ISO dial. lets not go very technical coz i dont like technical stuffs in photography. You were saying there were resto's and bars in the background? Somehow nothing is visible in any of em. The lamps in the background are even underexposed, except for the spot light.
Good stage lighting or bad stage lighting, do not blame the environment. Post-processing needed? definitely not, photos like these doesn't need PP, all you have to do is measure your exposure right.
I'm sure you are using digital, how about shoot, check LCD, adjust, shoot, check LCD adjust... for at least 1 min perhaps? you have all the time. Lastly, "PRO" photographers are photographers who get paid. You don't have to be a PRO to do exposure metering.
I hope this helps. Again, my apologies.![]()
