avoid taiwan or local brands like neo, qube, msi, asus and go for the japanese and u.s. brands like hp, dell, compaq, fujitsu, toshiba instead. acer and lenovo are taiwan/chinese brands that is also known for quality notebooks.

taiwan made products are actually good like asus for example. some are at par or almost with japanese made products. try to get a dell. perfect for students with a budget. very affordable.
