Are you sure you're subscribed to the Share-It service or do you have the Canopy service? Because I have 4 other friends who are also using Share-It and we're all getting the same speed, around 0.1mbps. (IF you really have a Share-It service then can you post a screenshot of a Speedtest.net result?)

I also have an officemate who has a Smartbro Canopy but he gets very good speeds, around 0.7mbps.

This tells us one thing - that the route for those subscribed to the Share-It service is different from Smart's other broadband offering and that only those that have the Share-It service are getting the sucky as hell service.

The Share-It router has 2 kinds of antennas in it boss:

1st is the internal 3G/3.5G/GSM antenna. This is the antenna that sends and receives the 3G/3.5G/GSM traffic from the cell site to the Share-It device. This is the same internal antenna that you have in your cell phone. If you're already getting very good signal strength in your area, or "5 of 5 bars", then you don't need an external antenna. All cell phones nowadays don't really need to have an external antenna anymore. The last cell phone that I own that had an external antenna that really protruded from the unit was the Nokia 5110.

2nd is the WiFi antenna. This has no effect on the 3G/3.5G/GSM signal strength but is just used for the WiFi traffic, or the traffic between the Share-It device to your laptop. The Share-It device, a Huawei B9333 Wireless Gateway, has an external WiFi antenna port.

So to answer your question boss - pwede nimo tauran ug antenna ang antenna port sa imong Share-It router, BUT, it won't increase the speed between the Share-It device to the cell site. It will only increase your WiFi coverage.

Here are actual pictures of my Huawei B9333 unit mga bossing o:

To the Smart apologist above who thought that I was an idiot like herself who just didn't know what kind of signal I was getting, *NOTE* that the indicator LED's in my Share-It router all indicate that I was getting 3.5G coverage, or HSPA / HSDPA, and my signal strength is also the strongest possible signal because I am located very near the cell site.

Yet I am still getting speeds at around 100kbps only, sometimes even as low as 30kbps.

the share it technology actually uses HSDPA which is the same technology as
internet on your cell phones.. so mag agad na siya ug signal.
all I can say is, in some areas your speed and latency will be better than other areas.
even if you say that the Smart reception in your area is Okay, you still can't guarantee stable internet service because your voiceline is different from your dataline.

the wireless internet technology is just not yet that developed, and I can
confidently say that Smartbro is just so much more better than the competing wireless provider which is Globe. I think many people feel so too

I've been using Smartbro (the canopy antena) for more than 2 years now and I've been nothing but satisfied, really.
to be perfectly honest, it's just the most hassle-free and has the least amount of downtime comparing to all other providers.

I'm no Smart model or anything but I will not pay 1K/month for almost 3 years for service that I am not satisfied with given that there are many options out there.

so if you care the share it router with the Smartbro Canopy, the canopy will be better in terms of stability. but if you choose that, you can't just bring it anywhere and you also have to buy your own wireless router. so you have to choose really.

when choosing an ISP, you have to think about what you want to use the service for,
if you want to go mobile or if you want the stability because you wanna do downloads.
there's even another type of service that you can get if you focus on upload speeds,
like you wanna host an online radio or something..

just sayin' really that you have to choose which one really suits you best..
if you don't like your current service, find other options
amen to this one, been using canopy for 5 years now. Just experience minor problems.

^^^ so smart decided to cash in on the good reputation that they built with the good canopy service by offering some totally crappy new service to literally steal customers money.
