I dont think that it is losing the ability to love. I think it is losing the ability to recognize love because the pain of the previous mistake surpasess the feeling of love. Or maybe it is an automatic reaction to pain. Your subconcious supressess the feeling of pain inside your heart and in turn supressess the other feelings that are present like love and happiness. But I know how it feels.
