Johnny Depp is a universal actor. If he'll be the next Batman, I think he would do just fine. For sure it would be another blockbuster movie!

and i saw an interview where they said that christian bale agreed to make batman movies only if they promise not to have a robin.

so expect no robin.

i'm guessing the next villain will be the penguin, maybe an arms dealer or something like that.
