Of course, one Linux-installed PC can handle all sorts of servers it can handle. However, ideally, you can have one PC to handle different type of servers but its not practical.

But which Linux flavor/distro you asked? That would now depend on your preferences and for your needs. Why go with the fad? Choose which is right for you.

oh yeah, seniors would say *BSD. but support/community wise, i'd give it to Fedora or CentOS.

We use a lot of different types of servers. Production and secure servers run FreeBSD, NetBSD and Debian Linux. When we have to get servers up and running quickly for testing though we use Ubuntu Server and/or Slackware because it is a personal preference and I set them up. Ubuntu Server and Slackware are ridiculously easy to get up and running with the services you need. Contrary to what many people might say, it doesn't matter which type of server you use whether it be BSD, Solaris, or even Windows. The admin makes the crucial difference.

I use Fedora 8 based on huge community like CentOS. But that's me. I can use *.BSD too but my server needs are small
