Ni swkela ko ug Cordon Bleu gikan sa Navy ra pod . Its part of the benefits of tuition assistance . I cant afford Cord Bleu if out of the pocket nako ang bayranan .

@ JOshua ... sa Las Vegas ko bai ni school .

@ CHad ... try to consider the National Guard , dagko kaayo sila ug enlistment bonus karon bai . Up to 15K siya depends sa specialties na masudlan nimo . Maximum of 6 years and minimum of 3 years contract which is very short ra gyud .

Speaking of culinary schools , depende ra na sa diskarte gyud , Ive learned a lot from my aunt also that the school never taught me hehehe . Basic ra man pod to sa culinary school , not the advanced curriculum . If nahan mo sa culinary industry , New York , CHicago and Las vegas are good places to start karon na naay recession . Destination places man gud where people really want to go puslan man naa sa US siya karon .

What you said are pretty much URBAN LEGENDS bai and whoever said that to you are just plain in the RECRUITING STAGE of SUGAR COATING everything to meet their quota hehehe . I am not speaking in behalf of the Navy since I am an ex squid but I can guide you to the right path since US Armed Forces shares the same system .

    - It is called GREEN BERET ( special unit of Army ) and DELTA FORCE ( counter terrorism of Army )
    - To be in the service , you have to be PHYSICALLY / MENTALLY and INTELLECTUALLY honed to make it .
    - Dili lang kay sa gyera na kinahanglanon but to the well being of the individual so you'll not end up like the rest of the cry babies of the US military .
    - Same sa Army .... naa ra ka sa base pirme . Sa Navy naa ka sa barko is entirely wrong . Naa ka sa RED LIGHT DISTRICT , yes ! Sa bar fights , we always win against the jarheads too hehehehe .
    - The advancement of an indivudal matters to the command you belong to and second na ang imohang RATE or MOS ana bai .
    - In the US Military , for you to SUCKceed , you have to SUCKrifice , trust me ! Grabe politics bai .
    - I made E-5 in 4 years but got stuck with it for the next 4 years also till I got out . My friend became a chief in 10 years , thats E-7 and no impossible ang E-8 in 10 years bai .Naa man na pattern sundon . Kana mga ma advance ug E-7 in 8 to 10 years ... mao na ang mga banggiitan na kaayo bai . SO imagine an E-8 advancement , you are good if you make in that in your 15th year of service .
    - Indeed follow what your heart says but by saying AIRFORCE and NAVY dili kuyaw is not true . I served in Mogadishu , SOmalia / East Timor , Indonesia ( before ) / Eritrea and Ethopia separation / 3 tours to Iraq and the first to rescue the casualties of USS COLE in Yemen . So imagine that bai considering I am not a combatant in the fielf of rate I am into but I have to undergo gihapon ana .
    - Goodluck ana bootcamp nimo and dili tanan sulti sa recruiter nimo is tinuod bai .
Actually, if I remembered correctly a few years (around 2004 to 2007) back I read somewhere that several navy and air force personnel were KIA in Iraq due to IED's. So I guess na saying "dili kuyaw sa air force and navy" is not actually true.

Also if I'm not mistaken there are some army jobs na some people maka-ingon "dili kuyaw" like logistics and other rear echelon duties pero in the current wars being fought by the U.S. in Iraq and Afghanistan those people are as fair game as front line units (Infantry & Armor).

I was in the exact club in Bali , Indonesia where it was bombed by terrorist 3 months prior when it happened as an example . USS Anchorage LSD-36 where I was staioned that time was supposed to be docked where USS COle was badly damaged by a speeding boat with suicide bombers filled with 25 lbs of explosives but our liberty hound captain decided a day earlier to go to Seychelles instead to rest and relax . You really wont know whats gonna happen till it actually happens .

Just curious is that what's called the "G.I. Bill"?
Its the MONTGOMERY G.I. BILL where the bill is your ticket to EDUCATION after serving a minimum of 3 years in an armed forces of the US , discharged honorably anywhere in the world as long as the college / university you are enrolled at are accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs . There's 3 of us currently enrolled right now at University of San Carlos .

    More on here :

actually bai, i'm on my way to a new good paying career at this point and grateful nako kay the company that i work for, kay magamit gyud nako akong degree (B.S Health Studies). thanks for the suggestion though---murag dako man kaayo na commitment ang national guard but i mean, like i said, i'm on the right track right now professional wise.

    ^^^

That is good for you considering the status right now . I guess ang military karon is the last resort for those qualified persons aged 18 to 31 , 17 with parents consent .

ANyways , NATIONAL GUARD is also a good choice since mura lang ug reserve ana pod to those interested sa US while having the partial benefits of an active duty and still getting paid also while working and keeping the day jobs .
