I've been to Manila. I've seen the film. My dad is a Tagalog. And yes, they have this condescending attitude towards Bisayas. But I don't think it's fair to point all the fault to Jose Javier Reyes who directed the movie. The producers and the scripwriters themselves, as well as the actors and actresses (they can choose to challenge the lines and change it in some way), Star Cinema, and even the MTRCB, had a hand in this debacle.

But anyway, Resiklo won the MMFF, SSS only got 2nd, while Jose Reyes did not win the best director award, it went to the director of Banal. The MMFF awards is over. And I know, issue na pod ni.

Jose Javier Reyes was the director and scriptwriter of the film.

^^ Yeah, I know. My point was, it was the entire system at fault. I wonder how it got past the MTRCB's supposedly strict standards. Or how the producers were careless enough to allow the director and scriptwriter to touch an issue as sensitive as this one. Or even how the actresses involved consented to doing that scene, which I think they were smart enough to realize, could be offensive.

    I don't know, perhaps it's because they're all tagalogs??

It was utterly irresponsible for this artist (if you can call him one) to create this kind of work which only deepens the cultural divide in this country and does nothing but aggravate the hate , prejudice, bias and discrimination which tagalogs have heaped on Visayans for decades. Above other professions, the artist is the most responsible for changing society for the better by removing barriers and promoting understanding.

an example is a line from the film "saved" : " if God intended us to be all the same he wouldn't have made us all so different."

But no, this scriptwriter would rather write stuff like: " bakit mo pinapalaki ang anak ko na bisaya?" " Talk to the kid in tagalog..parang pinoy. "

Copying the desperate housewives controversy just shows the "copycat" mentality of the local scriptwriter...just plain mediocrity.

The Filipinos don't deserve that kind of scriptwriting, thus the whole movie itself is a disservice. we don't need to watch the whole movie for a fair judgment 'coz reading just the ethnic slur is enough proof of wrongdoing...

no need to boycott the movie. i'm pretty sure not a lot of us here, browsing this forum would even be interested in watching the movie.

" to discriminate always generates hate." - black eyed peas, song' where is the love'.

" it creates useless hatred in the country." - Senator Pimentel-

" magpahinga na lang si Senator Pimentel. the country has more important problems to address". - Jose Javier Reyes

And some tagalogs even had the temerity to attack Senator Pimentel for pointing out the ethnic slur. tsk.tsk. what a pity.

"What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma.

But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah" ---black eyed peas (where is the love)

im sure mr. apl de ap will be sad on hearing this news...i don't know why some tagalogs are instead attacking Pimentel personally where he is just pointing to an issue which his constituents asked him to air....if Sen. Escudero or Sen. Revilla would have been the ones to first blurt out the ethnic slur, would that had made a difference? logic will tell us that it shouldn't...

the reaction of Senator Pimentel would generate controversy and raise moviegoers’ interest.... so the big winner here is the film producer...

for me, ill let it pass....

it is already a controversy from the start of the movie showing...even before Pimentel reacted to it...

of course, it would be natural for moviegoers to raise more their interest due to this controversy and thus rake in more profits for the producers...so what? THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE.
