It would be fun to watch how they would be able to go around Article VII Section 4 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which states:

Section 4. The President and the Vice-President shall be elected by direct vote of the people for a term of six years which shall begin at noon on the thirtieth day of June next following the day of the election and shall end at noon of the same date, six years thereafter. The President shall not be eligible for any re-election. No person who has succeeded as President and has served as such for more than four years shall be qualified for election to the same office at any time.

They will be contending that he is not aiming for reelection mainly because the term is not successive. It will be answered easily by saying that the intent of the framers of the constitution is not to give any opportunity for an elected president to be elected again. Under such circumstances, Erap is really disqualified to run.

But they will do everything if only to question the wisdom of that particular provision of the Constitution. Nonetheless, we are prepared to answer it.

AFAIK, technically NO.

Only in the Philippines that the likes of Honasan and Trillanes can run for public office and actually win.

Situations like these would really make one think that the people are hopeless.

- Imelda Marcos - after being ousted by the Aquino admin, came back and got a seat on the congress

- Gringgo Honasan - order was shoot to kill, but sat on Senate

- Antonio Trillanes - convicted and yet won as senator
