    kung long term gyud, government.

  4. #14

    hello there!

I'm currently working in the government right now and I must agree with them that if you want to find a long term job then I would advise you to work in the government. But, it also depends on your goals and the agency that you will be working in because if you are a computer graduate and you are still between 20 -25 years old then I would suggest you to work in private companies in order for you to really apply what you have learned in school. In the government, you have to wait for an available budget in order for your project to be pushed through which will disappoint you because you have worked a lot to finish your program but it won't be implemented due to lack of funds. Another thing, in the government it is too bureaucratic (you will have a series of headaches because of political reasons and the usual " whom you know system "). So, to sum up everything, you must consider your goals in choosing if you want to work in the government or private companies. But if you choose to work in the government you really have to know how to dance with their music for if not you will just make your life miserable...

That is just my opinion but it is all up to you...

Hope you make the right decision...

    God bless in your journey!!!

    hello melody,

I don't agree with you, well, a lot of people think that government pays higher than some other private companies but unfortunately not. At times the salary given by government employees with the same position in other private companies are much2 smaller but the good thing of working in the government is basically the benefits but not the salary.

Comparing the salary of our programmer in the government it is really small compared to the salary that other companies give.

i've interviewed a lot of applicants and all of them have the same reason why they choose working for the government and that is stability regardless of what salary grade or plantilla

Default Re: JOBS: Government or Private ?

dugay naman ni na thread but i have a question related to the thread, how about the benefits, like right now im working in the private sector, sa medical insurance they give like 2 dependents 100% coverage, i think 100k per sickness per year as far as i know, which is really useful para sa ako anak ug wife, how about sa govt? is there anything like this? i know theres GSIS but im not sure if they cover 100%, i see it on their website 50% or something, but effectively how does it compare sa current na insurance nko karn? im planning on applying on one govt agency gud, dept of ***, simbako lang naay ma sick sa akong dependents, like a usual sickness, can GSIS or something cover it? or naa jud koy significant cash out?
