Seagate expansion portable drive

I purchased a 500GB Seagate Expansion Portable Drive last Dec 2010, but just yesterday, when i plugged it in the usb port, it would say unknown device, "device not recognized"...never encountered this problem not until yesterday. Anyone knows why or how to fix it?

i already did, i tried to plug it in other usb ports in my laptop...still the same error message. already tried with my desktop, still the same error.
