I agree, but the title of the thread and the article is misleading. It implies that America must fail. Everyone assumes that China's success will be the end of America but forget that China's economy is the product of American consumerism. America is not going to be Rome. If America was likened to a former superpower, it would be a Britain. The difference is, the American economy is still going to be huge while the Brits will never get their colonies back.
As for China ... whether they like it or not, if they want to lead the world economically, they will need to lead the world in more ways than they have been. As they grow bigger, governments and businesses will realize that they would rather do business with the US. As their people grow richer, they will demand more rights. They will demand more accountability from their government's actions. In the long run, they will be just like the US ... with one big difference ... their population will be their ultimate downfall. It won't happen tomorrow. It won't happen in decades ... but mark my words ... it will happen. We go into a future with less and less for more and more people and the bigger you are, the harder you will fall.
