in landscapes. foregrounds, leading lines. these are things that will help create a landscape photo. but are they really necessary? NO. there are so many landscape photos out there without these elements mentioned yet they turned out world famous. check out the photos of famous landscape photographers.

foreground, leading lines and other "add on" elements are good , but its the light that really gives depth to your landscape. that's why most of the landscapes are done early in the morning or late in the afternoon. that's why "landscapers" coined the term light chasers or chasing light. not elements foreground leading lines chasers or chasing the foreground leading lines. some photographers stake out the same location in different times of the day just to see how the light affects the landscape. picks out the best one and come back another day. if light does not comply with you, then we use "tools" like filters to try and manipulate the way light appears in our landscape photo and finish up our work with fixes/touches/adjustments in our computer. light is the most important thing in your landscape that affects all the rest of the elements you want to put in your photo be it foreground, background, leading lines at iba pa.

people tend to put much focus on technical things like leading lines and foregrounds and story and blah blahs that they end up creating a very chaotic photo. not the actual beauty of the scenery that really captured your attention but a photo of something that complies to some guidelines.

we shouldn't forget the most basic points in landscape photography. and that is to document and to convey our appreciation of the scenery through our photo.

ang photo nga gi C&C is just a snapshot... i think the photographer didn't plan of making it an art... leading lines, foregrounds and other churva ek ek was not on his mind when he took the shot... i think he just find the sail boat interesting(kay siguro kusog mudagan ) not even worthy of a C&C... sorry sa photographer ... IMHO...

always check your horizons. unless takilid ang dagat sa inyo then ok ra.

photo 1.
- leading line to where? it was mentioned here that its good to have elements in your photo. in this case, a leading line but leading to what?
- horizon cuts in the middle. so I don't know what your subject really is. sky? or that line leading to nowhere?

photo 2.
- some scattered bangkas and a blue sky. thats it. nothing interesting. try filters or a lower perspective next time and fix your horizon.

photo 3.
- horizon kilid na pud.
- unsa man gyud, ang sky or ang banka? neither of the 2 are interesting subjects.

in shooting landscapes, don't just take snapshots. look through your viewfinder and try to see if the scene is interesting. try a lower angle, get on your knees, or crawl. get wet if you have too. stake out the place and observe how the sunlight affects the area. do your research about the place and ask friends. if you find anything interesting, come back the next day. if none, then go somewhere else.

wow naa na diay ni nga thread? thank you sa TS for making this one, i do love landscape jud (but sometimes di lang ko love sa landscape hehe)
im sharing a photo (which i also posted in other thread) to ask your opinion guys re: my composition, i have to be honest wala gyud koy ayu in terms of composition, but im working on it...
