    Default Re: Ling Nam restaurant

alast. considering my first try at ling nam. i gave it another chance very recently.
i decided to have a light unconventional dinner. congee and dimsum, i know, im being cheap but craving for a certain dish wouldn't stop me from ordering congee.

as i entered freely in the restaurant again. and sat unattended by any of the hords of staff at or after the rush hour, little traffic in the restaurant around 8pm so i assume everyone is not busy, i didn't mind since im used to barging in at restaurants at these hours. what annoyed me is that it became a challenge for me to hone in a single service staff knowing that they really notice you but chose not to entertain or pretend to be doing something more important. im more grateful to the busboy.i think "wearing white collard shirt instead of the red uniform" who is more eager to serve a customer compared to the wait staff. let me clarify im not insulted. i usually come in at a restaurant wearing shorts and a tshirt with my slippers, while there are more important customers to take care of, a family of tsinoys for example.

after i gave my order and waiting for my food to arrive what i notice is the loud noise of the staff chatting in tagalog. i really don't care if there is a knife fight inside the kitchen but it is important that anything happening in there must be kept within the area. masyado kayong maingay naririnig ko kayo. i don't know if it's part of the service and considering the cramp work area you have if i should to consider?

now the food. the congee was ok it was typical and i really didn't expect more from it and was contented. but i must say to double check on the pork entrails your using, smells like it had gone to a better place and decided to come back. these things happen if there are highly perishable ingredients sitting around in the kitchen for sometime. nothing that "bad" but quite noticable.

the giant siomai i didn't appreciate. nothing more than what is being sold at any common place in cebu. i feel that it is overcompensating for it's size "ma mon lukish" for the inability to satisfy cuisine wise.

that said. will i go back to ling nam? probably, but don't get your hopes up.
Price: again and again as what other peoples comments are.
    Service: grounds for improvement.

the restaurant needs to train its personnel... we also experienced the same thing, the waiters tend to forget orders and you get a feeling they don't really care... honestly, i was looking forward to dine in Ling nams but it seems the dishes are just plain compared to its pricing... i dunno how its tastes in Manila but for sure it tastes ordinary in Cebu... not worth it... sorry.

Latest update : the owner already confronted the 3 supervisors of Ling Nam Park Mall about the cockroach issue, and this is the feedback i got from them. It's not a Cockroach but it was a fly but it only happened once and it was during their soft opening when everyone were still adjusting to the system, POS and the likes. According to the owner cockroach or fly is still the same banana, but the owner said that they already made sure that this thing will never happen again

Everything now is in order, fast service and no more flies They even have a credit card terminal and they have a new promo, if your bill will reach 1,500 , you will get a 60th years Ling Nam mug with a spoon at the side Available until supply last.

Please try other Ling Nam dishes, the likes of Dragon Shrimp Ball, Salt and Pepper squid, Mandarin Spareribs, Chicken feet, Ham Suy Kok and maybe it will change your impression

twice nami gabalik diha, coz my in laws love the food, except sa service lang dyud nila. i don't think it is exceptional if you are still in the stage of soft opening. for me soft opening should pour out all you best para ma impress ang mga customer. As we believe first impression last. 1st dining namo diha they told us sorry maam soft opening paman gud. 2nd dining sorry man bag-o paman gud mi ga open. meaning unsa man difference sa soft ug bag-o?
