Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!
banda sa vocalist sa smooth friction sa una... mosquito intestine

At GAW-Colon, there were the ff. band that I can remember:
1. Simazo - Mostly from Ozamis, signature songs among others were Queen (e.g Bicycle Race, Bohemian Rhapsody, etc. STYX, etc.)
2. Plutonic - Signature song among others were Dire Straits (Money for Nothing, etc..), Van Halen (Eruption, etc..), Deep Purple, etc...
3. El Chicano - From Consolacion, Vocalist was "Codie", he got very nice voice tone, moved like Robert Plant of Led Zep.. Signature songs among others were Led Zeppelin (e.g. Immigrant Song, etc..), Alice Cooper (I'm Eighteen, You and Me, I never cry, etc.) and some cuts from "Jesus Christ Superstar" musicals, etc..Also, belting out the popular "Without You" by the original artist that was popularized by Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.
4. Iron Smoke - Vocalist Alex has a very powerful and high voice range..signature songs are Scorpions, AC/DC, etc.
5. and many more during than era..
Before GAW Colon and later renamed to Club99, there was also Shakey's Mango...daghna pud to nindot nga local Rock Bands... 40 the Band regularly played there. Also, katong band nga mostly mga tisoy, there vocalist was a guy named Joey Boufard (not sure of the right spelling of his surname)..I think the lead guitarist was his bother....There was also a club underneath that Cinema atbang sa Gaisano Metro sa Colon (natoy bumb cars didto). kuyaw pud mga Rock bands didto sauna....
If you have network or contacts where these guys are now...would be nice to have their contacts for some sort of reunion gigs...I know Arnold Ang of 40 The Band is doing a comeback in the local music scene..
Aaah..those were the good ole days...![]()
heheheh lingawa nko... wish maka kita ko ug recordings ani nga mga bands... especially Simazo.. which is ozamis in reverse..
daghan pa kaayo taga didto who would call ozamis as simazo... hehehehe
maayo unta ang mga recording studios dinhi would come -up with compilation CD's ani nga mga bands.. like remastered ones... for sure this would become collectibles.. ako mga tape sa bugs ug showground naa pa jud tawn...as well as signos... even sodom and the ghad machine... tsk tsk tsk pa jud d i.. idol
The Roots ra ako mahinumduman..

While these old rock bands played their gigs at bars around town, there were also underground "bisrock" bands that only played in their backyards. These bands mostly can only be seen playing at cause-oriented concert events with their original bisaya rock songs...I can't recall all the band names but I well remember one of them, the original Leon Kilat Band with vocalist/songwriter Dodong Redulla. Their original signature songs were "Agta" (lyrics goes like this: .....a'duna koy nakita, naglingkod sa kahoy, naggunit ug abano..nag-sige'g katawa, puwa ra ba'g mata!!! Hoy, Agta! nag-unsa ka diha?....), "Mister Laklakero" (....naglakaw kang nag-lutaw, usa ray medyas, siga ka'g mata, puro puti na ra ba.....), etc...I hanged out with Dodong and jammed with him in some occasions..I can still remember the riffs of these songs....Dodong Redulla's daughter "Sunshine" is an excellent female vocalist in a showband here in Cebu....I lost contacts with them, not sure if his daughter is still active in the local music scene these days...I'll try to get in touch with Dodong as I know they are planning a comeback...probably, some recordings....
