This would be a nice project . . . really would be happy to let my kids see something like this.

Just a thought... GPS coordinates could also be added to give the exact location of the planets, like Geocaching.
Or, we could actually add this as part of geocaching entries. By the way, geocaching is a world wide game of hiding and seeking treasures using GPS. In this case, initial point given is the sun's location. Once geocachers get to that point, they will read some notes then will be given another coordinate for the location of the other planets.
See more details @ www.geocaching.com
Cool idea.
I'm still ambivalent about my original idea for the format. Someone pointed out that the planets' positions, based on the model, may be misleading (i.e. all in one straight line), because if they were on an orbit, and their realistic locations at this very moment were plotted, then the distances would really vary (i.e. distances between planets, distances between a particular planet and the sun, due to orbit's elliptic nature, etc).
Lot's of thinking and re-evaluation to be done about this project, but I'm still interested in pursuing it one day.
BTW nice meeting you during the Galilean Nights 2009 event!

Bumping this up...this plan is now back on trackWe have the manpower now, and just waiting for our materials and the schedule...
CA3 will keep updating you guys about the progress of this activity in this thread

mo vary jud ang distance between planets . but im not sure , i think it would be inconvenient if people will have to go to farther places just to see the rest of the planets .
putting them on top of a building i think is too ambitious , those are corporate buildings ,but idk if im being a pessimist , but nothings wrong having a goal ,basta mahitabo lng.
I prefer it would just be like a walk in the park , where little kids can follow them and go trough the asteroid belt feeling they are in a spaceship or somethin . very educational in a open area preferably but all in one place ,.. jus my 2 cents
This is not a permanent installation--the plan is to shoot a video of the activity and post it to YouTube, the CA3 Facebook Group, and our fledgling website. Just like what Bill Nye, the science guy did:
