unsay current rig nmo? i suggest w8 for the "fixed" sb chipsets to be released.. mga april-june man target.. if kusog pa na imo unit, better w8... patience is a virtue baya. ayaw na pag lga775--wala na ni upgrade path.

no upgrade path? well, you can always upgrade rams, harddisk, and videocard with lga775 mobo. you can even upgrade to core2q9650 if youre lucky to find a used q9650 proc and intel g41 chipset uses ddr3 mems. if you buy older i3 proc with mobo that has intel h55 chipset, is it upgradable to new i3's like i3 2100? h55 chipset mobos might end up like amd socket 939 which render their expensive procs useless when the mobo got busted coz there are no more available mobos for it after less than 2yrs if the ts can wait for the new sb chipsets then good. if he cant, then i wont suggest the older i3's which is still available in the market.

old core i3 can be replace with i5 and i7 procie right? as long as it is still lga 1156. we are now using ddr3 ram because of new motherboards. ddr2 ram is almost phase out in the market like the lower frequency such as 533 & 667 and soon the pc800 with be next.

i think intel h55 chipset gets phased out earlier than intel g41 because of the new sb. the lga775 wont still be phased out because low end pentium dual core is still utilizing that socket. and you have more options regarding with rams in lga775 coz intel g41 is using ddr3 and intel g31 is using ddr2. incase your mobo gets busted, you can easily find a replacement g41 or g31 mobo though you may need to replace the ram. with the 1156 socket, it could turn your i7 proc to a keychain pendant when your mobo gets busted and there are no more mobos available for that processor.

@erwin_rommel - whts the purpose of upgrading if you will still stay with old platform? lga775 has long been replace by lga1156(fixed chipsets) and lga155. of course there are still stocks available for it(procie and ddr2) but thats jst about it eventually they die.

@TS - puslan man isa sa mo upgrade path is goin i3, better it be SB chips(even if H55 and P55 are still good platforms). go for the i3 that is native quad-core, dili tong dual-core w/ ht enable. nakalimot lang ko sa model if dili jud ka makahuwat, AM3's are better compared to a dying lga775 socket like having usb3 and sata3 ports, and the upcoming "bulldozer" support...

mobo must be ready for next level if incase to upgrade new icore setup.

i3 kung naa restraint sa budget... pero if you have money to burn then go for higher models like i5's and i7's... as for mobos, daghan choices bro... MSI and Asrock have very good offerings (based ra pud sa ako nakita ang reviews nabasahan)... pero i know there are lot of really good boards coming from other manufacturers as well... the choice is yours bro... =)
