this is actually a "googlable" question... try asking it there and you will get a bunch of results.. here's a sample.

It's basically an employers way of saying "You play by these rules, until we change our mind"

If your friend is after job security it probably isn't the way to go, but sit down with her and read through the contract. Sometimes businesses use this terminology just to protect themselves.

For example, it could be a great job but the business doesn't want to risk having to pay your friend if business goes bad after 3 months, so by not committing they have a way out, but the contract ensures your friend has a clear outline of her rights and responsibilities in the mean time.

Make sure she reads it carefully and asks the employers any questions before she accepts the job and signs.

fixed term stipulates definite status on the company, like when they say to you will stuck with us FOREVER (of course compensated pud... di madalag libre...) then that is called definite contract... if your after for job security this is what should be sought after...

indefinite well... opposite to what i said... your contract has an expiration usually 6 months since after that the company is required to change your contract to fixed term... however it is case to case basis... some company have open contract.... depending on the company's nature of business like innodata they are project base, meaning no project no work... but some employees work there for almost a decade... yet they are not regular... its part on their contract...

Being AWOL is not good move. Kung dili naka ganahan, submit a resignation letter. kung walay contract or employee's manual, you are to give 30 days sa imo employer para mangita ug lain. unless sugtan ra ka dayon makahawa.

if more than six months nakang nakatrabaho, in spite walay notice of your regularization, considered as regular na ka by law.

personally, ok ra... since there is no written contract that legally bind you with the company (kung wala jud)... but it is better to ask that to a labor lawyer....

afaik most agency dili mo regular (IHMO)... renew2x rana... like i said if wala jud kaha mo contract then you are not bind on company's policies or you are mutually obligated... mas naa pa silay kaso kay they let you work for 2 years without contract.... a contract is legal agreement between two or more parties with mutual obligations, and contract is also your safety net if incase mag binuang ang employer because a contract is legal document and a evidence that can be use in any legal action....

try going to NLRC-DOLE para maka advice sila...

if no contract... it means that you are not OFFICIALLY an employee to that company... even contractor/casual has contract... for agency, like sa mepz... ang agency ang nagunit sa contract dili ang company kung asa sila gi assign (IHMO)
