SINGAPORE (Reuters) - A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Thailand on Thursday, 69 miles north of Chiang Rai, the USGS reported.
Witnesses said the tremors were felt as far away as the Vietnam capital of Hanoi where people were evacuated from tall buildings.
The town of Chiang Rai is near Thailand's border with Laos and Myanmar.
