this is purely business...
your personal info will be totally safe and guarded
in Facebook if you keep yourself and your info private.
SIMPLE AS THAT...
However if you're the type of FB user who lives and breathes
in the social networking site and indulges oneself in what we call
INFO-VOMIT -- a habit of divulging the nitty-gritty of things in
your life in public then you are making yourself a good prey to
these criminals or the authorities.
so the keyword is MODERATION and you can always rely on the
SETTINGS tab to control the amount of info you want to share
to the public.

birthdate is a harmless info unless you
coupled it with your full name and address
then that's another story cliff...
others would put in a different date as a ploy
and others would use a different name... so it
all boils down to HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO
EXPOSE YOURSELF in the public...
If you don't want your birthdate to be known then
click "hide birthday" otherwise, delete all the bday
greetings on your wall, I know it's taxing to do all
that...
Facebook is akin to real life... You are your own
master of how and what you want yourself to be
projected to the other users.

^ b-date is just my example, but small pieces of info accumulated in your fb account, bind together, will be turned HARMFUL if harvested by unscrupulous individuals/bullies/scammers. Again, THERE NO SUCH THING AS 'PRIVACY' IN FACEBOOK.
how about friend updates/notifications through email?![]()
email notifications can be controlled in your settings, cliff
well, if you're the type of person who is not too keen on having
his/her private life under the microscope, don't sign up then
LOLs..
